zeitgeist57
...especially in trucks. Why can't you get a new 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck with a stick shift? Not one new offering for sale at dealerships in America today...
Skinner
cheaper to build one type.

nurkvinny
I agree, again dumbing down society. Somewhat off topic - watching a Pizza Hut commercial this morning and heard, "making ordering pizza simpler to understand." HUH? Who was having difficulties ordering a pizza? On topic - I had no idea you could not order a manual anymore.
NOS50
How can you shift a manual transmission AND text or talk on the cell phone?I remember a few years back it was 85/15 auto to manuals.I was also not aware that manual trucks were that hard to find. jeffro
ive never owned an automatic car. whats it like?
unfunnyryan
Because trucks are a fashion statement now. And because todays automatics are becoming more efficient than manuals.
Rhett
For a DD, like my Jeep, I prefer an auto.... Even for a work truck I would still want an auto. But for a street/track car Manual, but for the Drag Strip Auto. I guess its all about what you like and need it for. .... But you should have the option to choose. BrianZ06
I would always prefer an auto in a work truck. I could just amagine my truck with a manual it would just add that much work to my work day. spankis
WRONG! My dad just bought a new 2010 Ram with the G56 6-speed . It's only available with the 6.7 Cummins in 2500 and 3500 trucks. I like it A LOT. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x33/spankis/Ram%20Pics/DSC_0447-edited.jpg As it stands now the only automatic vehicle in our family is my old Dakota, somehow still around with 265k. If you drove that 6 speed in town everyday with a trailer behind it would get old fast. Maybe that just me. Some might like it I guess. All depends on what the truck is used for I suppose. BrianZ06
That looks like play to me so if thats the case it would be great. My neighbor has that exact looking truck. I like em.
spankis
It is his daily driver, all around Ohio and to his office in Westerville almost every day. It's also used to tow a 30-foot camper during 3 seasons as well. He likes it just fine. Aaaaaaaaand we all know how Dodge automatics go.... Yeah I wasn't a HUGE fan towing with a manual, although I think if I had a diesel I would rather have a manual while towing. I like having control over what the transmission is doing. Berto
Not new but its an 04 (no EGR, Common Rail, No aftertreatment, full of win) with the NV5600 6 speed trans. Its a bit clunkier than the G65 trans but it cruises at a lower RPM on the hwy and takes a bit more abuse. I LOVE this truck but I don't daily drive it (i'm too cheap). Just got back home tonight from a trip to black mountain with 4 ATVs, 4 ppl, and all the gear on a tri-axle trailer. Couldn't even tell it was there. 15 mpg @ 70mph I <3 maual trans though. My civic and RX-7 are both manuals as well. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Tail%20of%20the%20Dragon/DSC03465.jpg
Draco-REX
I have to drive a Colorado with an automatic for work. Worst transmission ever! I'd much rather have a manual. If you're going to automate something, it better work better than I could do it myself, or it's just an annoyance. ive never owned an automatic car. whats it like? Mind-numbingly boring. I used to commute through Boston during rush-hour with a manual and NEVER wished I had an Automatic. I don't see why people like them so much. Richard Cranium
Even with my plans for my Camaro to be a street/strip car I plan on keeping it a 6 speed. In fact I am the proud owner of an RPM level 5 T56 which will be going into the car this winter. Could have changed to auto, but standard is more fun. zeitgeist57
Forgot that Dodge still offers sticks behind the Cummins. Now, I just need to pony up the cash to buy one.
