BDHG940
I was looking at them and seem like they take some really good video. Figured it would work pretty well used for in-car video and a helmet cam. Anyone use or have one? Like it? Dislike it?
ansonivan
Have one, love it. I bought the motorsports kit which came with suction cup mount and a bunch of stick-on mounts. Takes a minute to get used to the lack of monitor for setup and the two button interface. My commute to/from work:
wagner
I know a lot of race teams use these little fuckers. There is a youtube video out of one that lives through a gnarly Nitrous backfire/fire. If my car was fast I would get one
ForeverMaker
Side note that may be useful for some people: If you already have a small camcorder there are some nice, fairly cheap mounts out there. I got this one and love it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002K8Q0EU/ref=oss_product Now that would help with interior recording but obviously if you need something to mount outside to protect the device the gopro is pretty cool. ansonivan
Why in the heck was it under leaves? More interesting than simply turning it on, I tried doing a snow intro like that also... didn't work so well.
evil8
I borrowed a buddies for a few runs at the track and loved it. I am going to Bestbuy tomorrow to pick up the HD version. This film was the standard version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGZtC6x2O28&feature=related

03bugeye
Use one for auto-x, the video is decent, better than my still camera's video mode, but the sound is pretty terrible, the wind noise can be overpowering. Not sure the HD is really all that HD when viewed on a tv. The video format was pretty annoying to work with but realplayer added support for mp4 and now you can do basic cutting down of clips for free. My stuff on vimeo: http://vimeo.com/user4270866/videos Most, if not all, are uploaded in HD.

BDHG940
I have been watching the video clips on youtube and the ones that say hd seem pretty good quality. I just want clips that are pretty good and that I can use on my site/youtube Most have music so I havent really gotten to hear much sound, thats the only thing that bothers me
ansonivan
Sound is pretty poor, with the non-waterproof back installed it improves slightly. I shopped around a bit and got my kit for $230 shipped. I've seen them as low as $215.
downingracing
Love mine. Getting another one for the 'back' view from the car. Video quality is great, but the sound quality isn't the best. But for $150-190 - you can't beat it!!
TurboNova
I bought one on amazon 3 days ago with Christmas money, I love the vids on their site. Hope it is all that is suppose to be. The newest model camera and firmware is suppose to have alot better sound quality, you can see quite a few on you tube and I think the sound is awesome

BDHG940
I have best buy cards and I know its not going to be the cheapest but thats where I have gift cards to. Are they all 1080 now or are there different models? If there is a certain model I should get, let me know
TurboNova
they do have different models on amazon but I am sure bestbuy has the hd one only. As long as the price is 300 youll be good. I know amzone had some standard def ones for around 180.
Smokey
I got a standard-def one before the HD versions came out. Honestly I haven't used it as much as I wanted to, but it's cool to play with. As mentioned the sound sucks, but at least it's not SUPER WINDY like most of the in car videos you see anyway. The case and mounting are cool and work really well. That suction cup mount will stick through just about anything you can throw at it. I've tested it to speeds faster than I'm willing to post here. Supposedly the new HD versions have capability to add on external mics, which would be the best solution.
ImUrOBGYN
You can get one of these. Not quite the same thing, though, but cheap and nifty. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85202
Qtr_pndr
they have the regular hero $100, 960hd hero $179, hd hero $299. I have the 960hd works great still records in 720 60fps, if you buy it from costco you get a whole slew of mounts.
Draco-REX
I see these all the time at RallyX events. If they won't come loose on one of our courses, they'll never come loose. I've been putting off getting one for a while for no good reason. I think I'm going to finally get one with my Xmas cash.
Mallard
A friend of mine from college just posted an autox video from his GP HD 1080p. Looks pretty good to me.
Draco-REX
Just ordered my HD Hero motorsports pack. Anyone looking to purchase one of these should go to GoPro.com and check out what comes in each of the kits. BestBuy only sells the Helmet kit which might not have all the mounting options you'll want. I'm thinking of putting one of the helmet mounts on my helmet, then a couple static ones around the WRX. The suction cup mount will be for oddball angles I want to get.
