justinwebb
So my beater car today I was out driving and it ran fine for a good 30 miles and stopped at kroger to get groceries came back out and car wont start. It cranks just fine then goes into some crazy high idle and then dies 3 seconds later. If you give it some gas it will just stay high idle and then die. The first time it died it seemed like the exhaust came out the engine bay but i dont think the cat is clogged due to it running fine previously. Any ideas? Too old to throw any codes lol

acklac7
While im not familiar with IAC's I know ISC's (Idle speed control motors) often exhibit similar failure-symptoms (high idle, stalling, etc). You hear any unfamiliar sounds from the engine bay once the ignition is turned off?
justinwebb
none that I have noticed, hmmm no clue where the isc motor is on my car. I shall add that to the list of things to check.
