Exodus
Are there any free genealogy sites out there? I mean truly free? I have a big family (14 brothers and sisters) and I am trying to get info on some of my relatives and parents from back in the day but I am having trouble finding the information I need. I will be writing a book to commemorate my dads life. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Browning
not really but if you are researching somewhat popular last names you can usually gather up quite a bit of info from using a combination of sites out there. Helps a lot to know the names of your great grandparents, including your grandmothers maiden name before digging in.

Littleguy
The Mormon Church has one of the best genealogy databases around. Here are a couple of free sites they run that I have found helpful: http://www.ancestorhunt.com/mormon_church_records.htm https://www.familysearch.org/ To anybody who is thinking off topic, no, I am not Mormon and I am not promoting the religion, just the great genealogy records. Tried these out of curiosity. I didn't have any luck with them at all. I even searched my Uncle who was a Pastor/Preacher/Father (whatever they are termed in the Mormon religion. I couldn't find any of his kids or wife either that are all baptized Mormons.
