Its always woe is me from the guy using 1mb a month. Waggz I understand because he lives on his phone, but I doubt he would even come close. What this does is it forces those people that use their phone to constantly stream info for business, porn, etc to look for other avenues and free up the network. Its still unlimited, its just not going to be as fast. If you think you are in the 5 percentile of 100 million people then I would highly suggest you toggle the wifi that you more than likely have at home with your wireless service. The main point of this is to encourage people to use other resources when possible so that the entire network isnt slowed down when the iphoners come over. It does sucks ass for that 5%.. but that 5% is costing the company way more than they pay so is it all bad if they leave? Sprint and Tmobile dont possess the customer base to have to worry about this so they will be unlimited for a very long time. Post up how many megabytes you use so we can compare. I don't care either way whether a Verizon customer can watch porn all day at the highest possible fps or not, or how much money Verizon makes. My non-smart relic phone still does it's job. BTW... They are just learning from AT&T's mistakes and being proactive about it and AT&T had to be reactive about it. I am glad there is competition now, it will help us both get features and prices adjusted. please go out and buy an iPhone 4 with Verizon. And if you are with AT&T, switch, Verizon is way better. It sounds like there may have been some confusion about what plan you have though. Unlimited is unlimited and any us numbers and shortcodes** count. I use about 20gb a month on average. so lets just think of your comment this way..."but that 5% is costing the company way more than they pay so is it all bad if they leave?"...if that top 5% were to leave, then the people who were in the 90-94.99% bracket are now in the top 5%. what happens if they leave? and it goes on and on to where people who werent near where the top 5% to start were, are now up there granted, i dont expect that many people to jump ship, but you kinda gotta look at your comment that way and kevin - my monthly bill is like $94/mo. ive been with sprint, cingular (when they still existed), nextel (when they existed), and verizon is BY FAR the best service ive had. i constantly had dropped calls with sprint, and im talking when i was 2 miles outside of downtown gahanna, so i wasnt out in BFE by any definition. i could honestly say that in 5+ years of having verizon, i could count on one, MAYBE both hands how many dropped calls ive had. theres a reason sprint is #3 out of the carriers and vzw is #1. I get where you are coming from. Now look at it this way. Put the top users in the 500 terabyte usage area. That's enough usage for a hundred thousand customers being used by 1 person. If 100 of those customers reduce their usage or leave that's over 1 million people worth of network usage that's free'd up. If you expect 10 million iPhone users to come over (I'm exaggerating), with the growing number of data phone users already, you have to have a fail safe in case its too much for the network to handle. Rather than risk getting poor network marks you impact that small percentage group. Not only do you gain money from less network leaching, you also have millions of people that get to use their phones without complications. You dont have to keep moving on to a new 5% because that first 5% is using enough data for the entire company. Its either throttle it, or eliminate unlimited plans and charge overage. With 4g people will be able to hook up to xbox live so that would be pretty crazy to have millions of people playing call of duty through their cell phones.
