They seem to know what they are doing, so it's likely they've done this before. Since the beach wasn't a series of canyons, I would assume that the ocean rebuilds the beach and refills the pond that they drained. I would be skeptical, but then I saw this vid of supposedly the same area: Waves like that could easily build up a beach like the one in the original vid. I wouldn't be surprised if they have waves like this a couple times a year and the pond/sandbar they used to make the standing wave is a result.
