Our rides today were very similar.... my biggest issue was the nasty headwind halfway into the ride today.

holy shit...43mph max? my max (and it took everything out of me, and was downhill, lol) is like 38.2, and i just prayed not to have a blowout for those ~45 seconds. hahah

My avg would have been a solid 16 but the last 2 miles I was just done, too much sun and headwinds and I basically went 14 mph the whole way. No wind and I would have easily had a 17.5 avg.

Downhill coasting for the 43 mph... I don't know if I mentioned it but last year I DID have a blowout at 36 mph on the front tire non the less and I was down on the aero bars... bad idea. That crash was fresh on my mind still too lol. I actually held it for about 5 seconds on the rim and made a pretty solid wreck out of it. I got lucky I guess I just know how to crash. Also that 40+ mph was for about a min, It was a pretty long downhill.

I have gone 46 on flat ground drafting behind a bus before, thats pretty scary being a few inches off a giant bus bumper.

Pics of the crash last year:

positive rep.

Glad I could fit in... :fuckyeah:

Edit: And that is why your supposed to shave everything(before you ride), that was the worst week or so of wrapping and changing bandages, terrible pain. I literally could not bend my arm for about a week or so.

yeish i didnt read the part about being on the aero bars when it went....double FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Southern Montgomerty CO, warren CO and the roads near waynesville south of springboro, east of 48 down by the river have some pretty decent hills where you can get moving pretty fast for a good distance (as evidence by...).

It looks like you came out of it really good, all things considered. back and shoulder injuries(aside from teh obvious head inj) feel like they take SO long to heal after a wreck. at best they nag the shit out of you for the rest of the season.

Yeah I literally felt like I was sliding on ice, it all happened in slo-mo. It was like left, right, left, right... uh oh bam! down. But the few seconds that I did hold on I knew I couldn't get off the aero bars, the second I would have shifted my weight to get down to the brakes I would have been fucked. If I could have hit the brakes I might have been able to stop. I didn't hit my head at all. I am pretty sure I fractured my hand where my thumb meets my palm, it still gets sore from time to time.

Oh and it literally sounded like a gun shot when it went. A lady in Oakwood came out of her house about 50 yards away because she heard it. It was so loud it scared me before I realized what had happened. She also let me come in, rinse it, put towels on it, AND drove me home. (only about 2 miles, I was pissed I just started my ride lol)

i remember your post when that happened, and it scared the shit out of me because i had gotten my new aero bars literally like 2-3 weeks before hand.

ive been getting down on them A LOT more this year than i was last year...my shoulder/chest muscles would be sore a lot last year, this year, not so much...i try to do at least 40% of my rides on them...shoulders getting a lot stronger from being down like that so much

‎46.26 miles and i am sore. was supposed to be 33-34, but we made a wrong turn at a 5 way intersection, hence why you see that big up and turn around on the north end of the map. coming back up the hill on big walnut rd from the bottom of the dam at alum creek was absolutely brutal...awesome day out though...and im sure im gonna be burnt because i was too stupid to put on sunblock.

it'll be a blast next time i ride it, once my legs recover a bit

35 more miles today...not bad to get over 80 miles in in 1 weekend...when i started riding, i checked and had a west bound wind...rode at about a 18.7mph pace all the way to newark...still had a west bound wind...started riding back, its like it did a complete 180...i was able to keep about a 15mph pace for the first 4-5 miles back, then it was 12-13 the rest of the way...i felt so weak. lol. managed to average just over 16 for the whole trip

About 60.3 mi today...set a new personal best for distance by 2 miles or so...ignore the last couple miles and the time...forgot to turn off the app and gps :fuuuu:

Averaged about 15.1-15.2ish for the day...head wind 1st half, but it made the ride back A LOT nicer..next goal is to get all the way to xenia...should make it a close to 80mi ride round trip

Id like to plan a trip like that a few weeks ahead and get a few people together...maybe 5-6 to do the ride, stop in xenia, lunch, then back...

Sturg, is that the route you took a few weeks ago i was contemplating going out? That trail is SUPER nice...no cracks debris, etc...we were both amazed at it

Nice times. I took off riding post tosrv and have been consistently getting out 5x a week for19mi for the past two weeks. Just yesterday I made it back to the start/finish line at 1hr 0min 0sec on the dot. The first ride back was something ungodly slow for me , 1:07 or something .Anyone rode in the Columbus outdoor pursuits local group rides yet? I going to start with the hilliard group soon.
