El Karacho1647545492
My customer who bought the car wants to know of someone/somewhere to take the car to have this done. I told him I'd put the word out on the local racing board b/c I figured someone here would want the business. He said he'd like to send it to someone local who has experience with this sort of thing. Any recommendations/takers?
Patterson
Is a lobe shot, or did it snap?
Mr. Jones
Is a lobe shot, or did it snap? Think it is considered preventative maintenance on that car....
El Karacho1647545492
Think it is considered preventative maintenance on that car.... This. The car is in good condition, only 72k miles. Customer just wants to address the cam before it becomes an issue.
Patterson
The V8 models. I looked at one once, and then read up on the cam snap deal. No fun. I'm guessing they all break in the same spot. I'd call Fowler or M&M.
Buckeye1647545503
There is no aftermarket fix?
Aaron
No aftermarket fix. I would look through shoforum. There are a bunch of people that do it.
6 Speed S4
There is a guy at Midas on Westerville Rd - Dave Adams, tell him I sent you, he has done a lot of these and has been the main tech there for 15+ years. He is a really good at what he does.
Nitrousbird
There is seriously no aftermarket cam options for those motors? I figured Comp or Crane would offer something, or at least some small shop would offer at least some sort of grind for that motor.
Patterson
Delta Cams could probably do something for it.

Mr. Jones
Maybe because its a Yamaha V8? no idea. IIRC, Yamaha made the v6 not the V8.
Nickey4271647545519
IIRC, Yamaha made the v6 not the V8. The V6 was all Yamaha, the V8 was a partnership between FoMoCo and Yamaha.
El Karacho1647545492
still doesn't explain why FMC decided to not make this cam issue a warranty fix
Mr. Jones
still doesn't explain why FMC decided to not make this cam issue a warranty fix Nobody cares about issues that occur 99% of the time far outside of the manufacterer's warranty. Cars today are built for the first owner to enjoy for 50k and then discard.

Cars today are built for the first owner to enjoy for 50k and then discard. agreed. Avg time is 4 years last time I heard. On Ave the cams don't become an issue until 60k+. Some have 120+ with unwelded cams, some pop at less than 50k though. Its a toss up. I would search on shoforum. Shouldn't take but 5 minutes. Then get it done asap. They are decent cars when that is fixed.
