That's not how it works in my house winters! I don't ask I do... I just pay for it later. But i just bought her a dyson so that might put me in the clear for a couple weeks.

Erik, boost leaks are fixed. Come over tom, going to try and make some runs.

hey chris, mcghee just bought a duramax with a 100k on the odometer. i he said he wants to rebuild the transmission in it. do you have any local guys you would recommend for the rebuild? i think he wanted a suncoast or ATS kit.

erik, just because i have not resigned myself to married life/social death, like you two, doesn't mean i like dudes. i see that the javelin didn't make it into 11s this last go around, hmmm.

Nope no 11's this time out and please feel free to hate on my 40 year old pump gas technology all you want. Car was tuned to run nitrous and the system was giving me pain so I left it alone and made some NA passes 12.1 was the best for the day. Not my best but I am proud of what it did.

Hey speaking of proud Winters, don't as don't tell has been repealed and I think it is time to make that partner of yours proud. Stop living in sin! Take him out to San Francisco and get married already. Your obvious sexual preference is a total side issue though.

FACT an STI and Cummins showdown is in the works and I know your are just as excited for it as all the straight people that will be in attendance.

All in fun... Things must not be too bad over there if your are that quick to reply on CR at all hours.

Tell him I will build it and tune it if he wants. Tell him to find me on FB and send me a message about what he wants in form of trans and engine to do. I will tell him how much that costs.

Well ever since June's CR track day my truck has been tucked away and not doing much. It didn't run very well for track day and I couldn't get it to build any boost at the line. Since it has warmed up I have been down on power. I have went through many things only to come to the conclusion that the convertor is just slightly too tight. If I roll the truck out a car length after I start to build it will take off. It feels like it just needs to flash 100-200 rpms higher to get it to go. I had a few boost leaks that sure didn't help but I am going to have to either wait for cool air to come back around or pull the trans again. Needless to say, the tranny isnt coming back out until winter. I have half ass set the truck up for sledpulling for the summer and can easily get it to build boost for that by rolling it out. I pulled for the first time last week and more or less had a shakedown run. I spinned like hell out of the hole and let out way early becuase I started to bounce. I am going to pull this Friday at Union county fair and I have already decided that my foot is going to stay in it until it either stops at the end of the track, or breaks on its way.

Some of the nasty leaks I had after track day.

I got those all fixed and finally got some pics of my traction bars installed. I wanted to put longer bars on for pulling but I also wanted them to not be that noticeable at the same time. These are what I have for now and if (when) I bend them, I will go longer. Thats why the brackets aren't welded yet.

I also installed my torque convertor manual lock up switch. For those who don't know what this is, this switch allows me to manually lock my convertor through all of the shifts. This will usually shave off .5 sec in the 1/4 mile.

I tapped into the PCM at the firewall

And then installed a jumper wire between the trans relay

And then installed a switch from the PCM wire to ground

These are all the pics I have for now. I am going to take some of more recent work as time allows. Hopefully I will still make it in the 12s before the year is over.

I won my first paycheck racing/competing last night at the Union County truck pulls. The truck is still not running great but it drove better. It is going to continue suffer out of the hole until the converter comes back out and gets loosened up. I didn't get the turbo to light until 100 feet out and out there the track was very loose so I spun like crazy. Until I get my turbo to light sooner, I am not going to he able to build enough momentum to carry the sled on the big end of the track. My Edge box is still holding me back. By the time the turbo lit and regained traction, my Edge box was already starting to defuel. It seemed like as soon as I saw 55 psi the gauge started falling back down and I was losing power. I still have a lot more work to go but its slowly coming around. I might try and post a video from last night.

get efi live

Great idea except for the fact that efi live is not, and never will be offered for my truck. Efi live is out for cummins and even on its way to my house but it is only for the 06-07 model years right now, with the 03-05 to follow in a year or so . I am going to tune an 06 I am getting ready to build. The vp-44 injection pump is most of the limiting factor in efi live not being useable.

Well, it's that time of year again to start getting the truck ready for warm weather. I had a summer full of problems with the truck last year and was never even able to get it out of the 13's in the 1/4. I was never even able to spray the truck last year at the track. At the end of the year I made a couple decent truck pulls but at the last pull of the year I found one of its biggest problems. Since early in the year I had noticed bits of oil running down the front of the motor and to the ground. As the summer went on it got worse. The problem was really hard to track down due to the fan making a mess with the oil. After the last truck pull the headgasket completely let go and made a complete mess. This definatly helps explain being down on boost and a lot of power.

First off I am making a few changes this year. I have decided to go mechanical injection and convert the truck to p7100 injection pump. I have had a lot of expenses lately so I am still saving for the conversion. Especially because I have decided to go with a 13mm built pump so its going to be expensive. Until I have all of the funds I am going to continue with the current pump and change some things. I will try to max out power with my current charger and nitrous. I may even add another turbo to the setup.

First thing to change was the injectors

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0422.jpg

These are my new 6x16 Scheid lightning III's

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0421.jpg

On the left is my old 6x12's from Columbus Diesel and the right is the 6x16's. You can notice the different nozzle designs between the two as well. I know many here don't know the difference so I won't elaborate any further.

These exact injectors came from another SO VP44 truck that made 697hp on fuel only. They also made 905hp on a healthy bit of nitrous. These injectors hold the record for highest hp on an SO pump.

The old injectors didnt supply enough fuel to use a big shot before it would start to actually slow the truck down. In my plans to add a lot more fuel, I hope to also add a lot more nitrous.

To help with nitrous placement and the multiple nozzles, I went with a custom intake horn.

I got a chance to do some work on the truck tonight. New injectors are in and I am finishing up putting the new intake horn on and buttoning everything else up.

I am still waiting on the wastegate before I start spraying. Without it, I know I will be overspeeding the turbo like hell.

I broke out the bigger solenoids this year. Here is a sneak peak at some of the system.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0425.jpg

I have to go through and replace some of the fittings and clean it up a little. The biggest reason that I am changing solenoids is because I am completely changing the system setup. Instead of the traditional 2 stage setup, I am now going to be using a dual stage setup. The big difference is the use of the progressive controller. Instead of focusing on tuning the system with the jets only, I will now rely mostly on the controller to tune the system using both solenoids simultaneously. Hopefully tomorrow I will get to shake the truck down on fuel only.
