Diamonds
throwing around some ideas for a new shift knob.... it would be made from 3/4 inch plate aluminum. Its my attempt at road race meets hillbilly (they would be about 6-8 inches tall). The black pieces represent rounded black delrin... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/s15driftking/KNOBS.jpg

DavidBaustert
Thanks bud, it's actually cody grims car (tater). We got the entire car together in about 2.5 weeks. Made 520whp. Should rip pretty hard at SLT. That shift knob looks terribly uncomfortable. Make it more like a pistol grip to incorporate some ergonomics. Diamonds
Will do. I'm sure I'll have to make about 5 to find one that fits my hand well
DavidBaustert
my advice... take a piece of molding clay and put it in your hand the way you shift, and that will give you a good idea of how to shape it
AudiOn19s
Go buy a pistol grip shifter for a Challenger and adapt it to fit. One of my customers has one (Hurst I think) on his new Challenger R/T 6-speed. It's got carbon fiber on it instaed of wood or just being metal which I think is a little hokie and when I first got in the car I thought the thing looked horrible and completely out of place... HOWEVER when I drove the car it was the most comfortable and natural feeling shifter I've ever had the pleasure of using.

AudiOn19s
I think you can get it in annodized aluminum instead of carbon but this is what he had http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2010/klm/2010-Mopar-10-Dodge-Challenger-Hurst-Pistol-Grip-Shifter-1280x960.jpg

Last_in
+1 on the pistol grip. I have one from a '70 B-body non-console car on my T-56 in my Dakota. I drive with it daily and love it. The plastic grips feel cheap though. http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz243/Dakota740408/1998%20Dakota%20Sport/IMG00053-20110914-1749-1.jpg One thing you could do, carve your own grips out of wood to fit your hand. Like I said, the plastic ones that come on them feel cheap. Here is a picture of one carved out of african ebony hardwood, on a big block/TKO Dakota. The one in the picture feels really good on my hands. He carved it with a pocket knife and some light sanding. I have some wood ordered, just haven't got around to spending the day doing it. http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz243/Dakota740408/5732985-DSC00763.jpg
