A couple months ago I got a chance to hang out with the other guy who was in my training program, same year as me. We're both orthopedic surgeons--he did the air force program and is in the middle of 4 years service--just got back from afghan, from a six month stretch. Honestly, I think he has PTSD. Some of the shit he had to fix up was like nothing I've ever seen or even remotely heard of--guys coming in missing both legs and an arm, etc. Stuff that gives you horrible nightmares. We met up in Chicago taking our board exam--he missed his flight because he was so nervous about leaving his wife and two kids again.
