Raod Sensors

Have a good link on how they work? Post 'em up for all to read. I spent 20 minutes trying to tell my wife for the 23rd time about them.

 

The following is pretty decent and explains to those that aren't aware, how the diamond shaped speed sensors and motorcycle sensors work.

The ones at Creekside Parkway and Alum Creek must be broken. Every night after I leave work, I sit on Creekside for at least 10 minutes waiting to turn left onto Alum Creek. There's been a few times I've thought about just going, but I don't. I just sit and wait. It's so frustrating.

The ones on Sancus, to turn left onto Polaris doesn't pick up bikes...I sat there forever until finally a car pulled in the lane next to me.

 

I've heard people say to not pull up all the way to the front of the line to try to trick the sensor into thinking there are multiple cars so that it will turn faster. :dumb:

I know where you're talking about. Thankfully I just make a left from Rohr onto Alum. We still need to grab a lunch. I'll be at the lab tommorrow. Just PM Me.

Next time look to see if the sensor has a divider line in the middle of the lane. Wait 6" on either side of it. Lots of the newer ones are divided in two so that bikes will trip the sensor if it's on one side or the other.

This works on lots of them I do it all the time, when the thing is clearly a car back from the light I always stop on it adn about 90% of the time I get an arrow.
