...FEBRUARY CLIMATE OUTLOOK...

 

FEBRUARY IS THE LAST MONTH OF THE CLIMATOLOGICAL WINTER SEASON.

TEMPERATURES ARE TYPICALLY ON COLD BUT SOME MODERATION OCCURS BY THE

END OF THE MONTH. SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL CAN OCCUR BUT IT IS NORMALLY

ONE OF THE DRIER MONTHS OF THE YEAR.

 

AT COLUMBUS...THE NORMAL HIGH TEMPERATURE STARTS OUT IN THE UPPER

30S(38 DEGREES) BUT RISES INTO THE MID 40S(45 DEGREES) BY MONTHS END.

NORMAL LOWS START OUT IN THE MID 20S(23 DEGREES) BUT RISE SLIGHTLY

INTO THE UPPER 20S(28 DEGREES) BY THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL

PRECIPITATION IS 2.25 INCHES. SNOWFALL AVERAGES 6.3 INCHES.

 

AT CINCINNATI...THE NORMAL HIGH TEMPERATURE STARTS OUT AT 40 DEGREES

BUT MODERATES INTO THE UPPER 40S(47 DEGREES) BY MONTHS END. LOWS

BEGIN THE MONTH IN THE MID 20S(24 DEGREES) AND RISE INTO THE UPPER

20S(29 DEGREES) BY THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL PRECIPITATION IS

2.81 INCHES. SNOWFALL AVERAGES 6.5 INCHES.

 

AT DAYTON...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE NORMALLY STARTS OUT IN THE MID 30S

(36 DEGREES) BUT MODERATES INTO THE MID 40S(43 DEGREES) BY MONTHS

END. NORMAL LOWS BEGIN IN THE LOWER 20S(21 DEGREES) AND RISE INTO

THE MID 20S(26 DEGREES) BY THE END OF THE MONTH. THE NORMAL

PRECIPITATION IS 2.21 INCHES WITH THE SNOW PORTION OF THIS AMOUNT

NORMALLY AT 6.1 INCHES.

 

WHAT IS THE FORECAST FOR FEBRUARY 2012? THE CLIMATE PREDICTION

CENTER EXPECTS TEMPERATURES TO BE ABOVE NORMAL AND PRECIPITATION TO

BE ABOVE NORMAL.

No snow in the next eight days in central Ohio, let alone snow that you'd need to use a snowblower on.

 

I'm callin' you out on this one, Jeff. Got some $$$ to wager that there'll be no measureable snow in Columbus in the next 8 days?

Careful... anything more than the slightest dusting could be measured as 1mm

 

I would accept anything greater than "a trace" as measureable. For example, 1/4 " of snow would cause me to lose the bet.

 

No worry on this one ....... Jeffro Ganahl won't take the bet.

give me the 8th day and ill take your bet. 20$ all of the long range models have a snowy next few weeks.
