Reaper
All i can say on this is that the government can try and take my gun's away when the mag is empty and my heart has stopped. As for the burglar issue thank god Ohio adopted the castle doctrine. We no longer have to retreat or warn some intruder we are armed and calling the police. gixxie750
If they were in my house with a crow bar and raised it to hit me then saw i had a gun and ran i would deff still shoot! Any burgler that comes into your house knowing you are there is willing to hurt you or your family. The only thing you deff have to do is KILL them both so there are no one to tell the story but you. This was repeated many many times in my ccw classes. If you dont kill them they will be back with guns to kill you! The court system deff is lame when a burgler can sue you for anything that happens while they are invading you "castle".

And if I was, I wouldn't resort to childish name calling. You got the point. And no, you didn't call me any names..............cuz calling someone a keyboard warrior is ya know, like a term of endearment. As far as giving me a proper education, yeah not so much. You are the last person that I would look to for an education. I prefer to learn from people who are actually intellegent. Blitzburgh
Shoot a man in the back and you'll have a very' date=' very, very long time to think about it in prison. Believe me.[/quote']That kind of depends.. If they are IN your house and you shoot them in the back and kill them, you could always say you thought you saw a gun/weapon and sneaked up behind them as they were walking into your kids room, they were walking into your bedroom where your wife was, they were grabbing for your kids, they were hollering we are going to kill you, you told them you had a gun and they yelled so don't we and now your going to fucking die, you get the picture.. It is your word against..... well your word...If they was in my house they are dead... PERIOD.. There is no way I'm giving some crackhead a chance to go home, smoke up, Rearm, and then come back to show me just how much of a bad ass he is..I heard the audio of Joe Horn calling 911 in Texas about people breaking into his neighbors house.. He TOLD the cop he was going to go and shoot them.. He then puts the phone down and does just that.. NO CHARGES FILED!!!! As Rush would say.. "Joe Horn, you sir are a GREAT AMERICAN!!!!" Lost1888
Let the bastard walk past you as you are crouched down and take a throwing knife ( I know you all keep these under your pillow like me) slash the back of his leg as he walks past to get his attention. Either stab him in the kidney and cut his throat! Kick him in the face when he's down. Then call the kids and the wife out. Tell the boys to piss on him and the wife and daughter to kick him in the nuts. Then tell him sorry buddy you just picked the wrong house.Ah I'm just kidding. Well not about the knives. I have 2 dogs that won't think twice about tearing anyone's ass up that comes in uninvited. Shit my neighbors of 4 years still can't walk in with out someone making it know it is OK. Seriously though. The government has been taking away our rights for a long time. Somethings might be minor and no one notices. Somethings are more of an issue. I wish it would all be an issue. Like I tell my kids all the time "If I can't trust you with the little things I will never trust you with the important things."I don't trust the government never have never will. Now more than ever! That's my $.02 Edited March 28, 2009 by Lost1888 Spelling
blacktalon606
You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door.Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. Atleast two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. Withyour heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up yourshotgun. You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door andopen it. In the darkness, you make out two shadows. One holds something that looks like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishesit as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire. The blast knocks boththugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls tothe front door and lurches outside. As you pick up the telephone to callpolice, you know you're in trouble. In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that areprivately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless. Yourswas never registered. Police arrive and inform you that the second burglarhas died. They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession ofa Firearm. When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry:authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter. "What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask. "Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing. "Behaveyourself, and you'll be out in seven." The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper.Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men youshot are represented as choirboys. Their friends and relatives can't findan unkind word to say about them. Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numeroustimes. But the next day's headline says it all: "Lovable Rogue Son Didn'tDeserve to Die." The thieves have been transformed from career criminalsinto Robin Hood-type pranksters. As the days wear on, the story takes wings. The national media picks it up, then the international media. The survivingburglar has become a folk hero. Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probablywin. The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized severaltimes in the past and that you've been critical of local police for theirlack of effort in apprehending the suspects. After the last break-in, youtold your neighbor that you would be prepared next time. The DistrictAttorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars. A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven't been reduced, asyour lawyer had so confidently predicted. When you take the stand, youranger at the injustice of it all works against you. Prosecutors paint apicture of you as a mean, vengeful man. It doesn't take long for the jury toconvict you of all charges. The judge sentences you to life in prison. This case really happened. On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk, England, killed oneburglar and wounded a second. In April, 2000, he was convicted and is nowserving a life term. How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once greatBritish Empire ? It started with the Pistols Act of 1903. This seemingly reasonable lawforbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgunsales were to be made only to those who had a license. The Firearms Act of1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms exceptshotguns. Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon byprivate citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns. Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after theHungerford mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed Manwith a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead. The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control",demanded even tougher restrictions. (The seizure of all privately ownedhandguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.) Nine years later, at Dunblane, Scotland, Thomas Hamilton used asemi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a publicschool. For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstableor worse, criminals. Now the press had a real kook with which to beat uplaw-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media gave upall pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns. TheDunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearmstill owned by private citizens. During the years in which the British government incrementally took awaymost gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armedself-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grantgun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense wasno longer considered a reason to own a gun. Citizens who shot burglars orrobbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released. Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying,"We cannot have people take the law into their own hands." All of Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and severalelderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had nofear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seenmost of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars. When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were giventhree months to turn them over to local authorities. Being good Britishsubjects, most people obeyed the law. The few who didn't were visited bypolice and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't comply.Police later bragged that they'd taken nearly 200,000 handguns from privatecitizens. How did the authorities know who had handguns? The guns had been registeredand licensed. Kinda like cars. Sound familiar?Dude... 1/3 of the way through I was about to comment, "Welcome to England." lol. And then come to find... it was England. It's also illegal to hit an armed burgler with a bat. Scary shit isn't it?

blacktalon606
Well... we no longer have the duty to retreat but we don't have the right to shoot an intruder that isn't a threat to our lives or safety. The big change that 'Castle' brought to the table was a shift in 'burden of proof.' Before the homeowner had to prove his/her life was in danger. Now that burden is on the prosecution. Doesn't mean you can shoot anybody that walks into your house. Believe me when I say that.Yep.. you can't shoot anyone who is not directly threatening you with death or serious physical harm. The part that gets me though,is that, EVEN IF THEY ARE ARMED... if it's found that you in any way caused the altercation, you can still be charged wiht murder. What kinda bullshit is that? So... I tell him he is a bastard for fucking my wife, and he gets a gun because I pissed him off... If I defend myself I can still be charged. What a fucked up system.
