LS swapped 60-70's cars, question on fuel systems

My dad has been talking with me to get him fittings made so they can do some of the fuel lines for the guys doing the ls swap in say the 60-70's muscle cars(Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, etc). I know a lot of guys just run -an lines and he want to use their pre-bent fuel lines and have fittings to adapt at the engine and at the tank as well. I have the front part covered but I dont know what to do for the tank. What do most people do for the fuel pump when doing these swaps? a1000? I have talked with the one company that is making a fuel tank with in-tank pumps but they are expensive and not sure how many people go this route.

 

Just need to get an idea of what most people do so I can locate him the correct fittings and find a way he can adapt his fuel line at the tank/pump

some tanks can fit internal pump, some cant. his lines work fine now as most cut out what they dont need and install c5 filter/reg combo. and run a small section of return line back to the tank. most of the time a return line is added to the factory hat.

I haven't researched it much just as he was just talking to me about this project. Anyhow, are their companies that just make a sending unit that holds pumps and fits to the stock tanks?

 

Then assuming this is the filter/regulator combo you are talking about?

I'm still looking, I have found fittings to go from a 45 degree flare to an with aluminum tube but they are saying not to use it with stainless tubing??? So I need to try and find or source a fitting to do that and take us from the line up to the rail. Then at the rail, I was just planning on doing this same fitting as I already know who makes this.

Guess I just needed to research myself a little more. Since we stock about all the 50's-70's tanks now, looks like I just need to design a pump hanger assembly similar to what we just did for the Mustang market. From the looks of it, they are just cutting the stock top of the tank out and adding the pump hanger assembly with a 255. I have a new 340lph pump which would work well with a combo like this. Just need to go chop up a tank tomorrow and make a pump assembly. Thats all that it looks like these people are doing:

This is what we just did for the mustangs and I think we could do the same with this and would be easier to do and only need one pump

if your trying to make a kit. just throw some fittings and line in a bag and send it off. in the hotrod parts industry NOTHING fits. so it wouldnt be that big of a deal really.

I agree, we are just going to try and put together something a little more than just a bag of fittings and having guys go at it. We would like to offer something as close as possible to working perfectly out of the box. Granted cutting and putting the ends on the lines pretty much is unavoidable. We just want to be sure we have a good combo that includes everything and is easy to understand and install. I think I have a pretty good idea though

So just sumping the tank and running external pumps? I was just thinking if we made some sort of hat since we are direct with the gas tank stamping factory, it would just make for a really clean install. Then just have 2 of our new 340lph pumps in-tank which will support more power than most will need and will just clean up the install a lot. Its just the idea as of now but not sure what direction we will go.
