BOSS 302 Owner Kit

POS VETT

Recommended Posts

This arrived yesterday. It's commonly called "Boss Owner Kit"; little doodahs that Ford sends to new Boss 302 owners including a letter. The key fob is engraved with the car number (2057). Apparently my car is #750 among competition-orange Boss 302's.

I love Ford nowadays; I bought a much higher-profile car from GM and they are nowhere near Ford when it comes to customer relation. Ford even extended my Autoweek subscription for another year.

Considering the cost of cars, they should all come with a schwag bag like this. Granted, the average "my car is an appliance" owner wouldn't give two shits, but every enthusiast would. It's not that difficult to do something like this and make the owner feel like you appreciate them for their choice.

And here is one used on the cover of a JEG'S catalog.

Thanks :)

You meant Laguna Seca package ? If so, it doesn't have a Laguna Seca package which I consider not worth the extra cost. Mine does have the Recaro and Helical Diff (i.e. Torsen) package. Laguna Seca Boss 302's come only in black or silver; both colors have red accents and red wheels.

And no back seat just a brace.

I just ripped a hole in my pants.

I would have gone for the dark blue color myself. It would have been closer to my dads 69 boss 302.

PS I want your car!

Thanks guys :)

I picked up the car Dec 3 and it basically went straight into hibernation. The car has under 500 miles on the odometer; all street miles. For now, I don't have any plan to put it on track duty; autox, road course, or otherwise. Hell, I'm still unsure why I bought it :D

So far, I can say that it does not drive and feel like a Mustang at all. Gone are the uncertain, suspension-by-jell-o, underdamped, and side-to-side shimmy feels. It drives in a tidy, tight, quick, and proper manner. It's scary to think it behaves almost like the Z06. If you didn't know what rear suspension you got, you couldn't tell it's a live axle.

The engine is a gem and it revs to 7,500 rpm. It's smooth and torquey from the get-go. I love the way Ford equipped the interior; it's almost spartan in today standards. There is no climate control (semi-old fashioned single-zone AC and heat), no fancy navi/satellite radio/changer, no power seat, no auto headlights, no DRL, etc.

I'm debating getting the TracKey which reduces the powertrain warranty to 3/36 (from 5/60) and gives a dealer an excuse to skip on some warranty work. Mods will be mild and few as my focus is mainly on the Z06 and the Solstice.

I just about molested the yellow one in detroit. The only car I want more than a Boss is a 4 door Rapter.

I love the GHiG '13 B302. Too bad the the SBY is the Boss-exclusive color, it should have been the GHiG. The color is so vivid with a golden sheen; it needs to be witnessed in person to appreciate. I took this picture myself and it doesn't even present 80% of the way the color pops.
