I will be getting an Aimpoit "like" optic. But I took the one I was issued off over here. I qualified with it and liked it ok, but shot a 33 out of 40, varying distance from 50-300 yrds. . I put an ACOG on and liked the options. Made an insane 100yrd golfball shot first try, but ended up taking that off too. I don't have a need for the optics in my situations right now. I shot 38 out of 40, same as other course, with iron sights. I have always been able to be between 38-40. I think with more shoot time, the same comfort level and accuracy can be there. Anyone shot these at over 300?

What's hard for me to justify is if the optic fails. I have never heard of anyone's failing. That's just where my head is.

I would be interested to see what accuracy and distance you guys have experienced with these optics.

Living on a farm Ive never really encountered the need for a 300yrd shot with my ARs. At that distance I will grab a bolt gun instead. Although you don't have that option during a deployment so I see where you are coming from. If anyone wants to try them out at 2-300 I can accommodate a few people just no idiots.

Not to be mistaken. I'm not in situations over here where I engage at long distances. I'm simply more comfortable manipulating sight adjustments with the iron ones. I'm just wondering what people have tried and the results. Over 300, I'm looking for a scope or sticking with dialed in iron sites Vs. a dot style sight.

Sorry for the thread jack John.

FWIW, I run this on a tactical converted Ruger 10/22. Reviews say it is damn close to an Aimpoint. Having shot both, I'd say it does it's job. But have not shot it over 50yrds. I will be mounting it on an M4 for some range fun when I get home to see how it does. Hard to beat the cost when it works.

Im sort of in the boat with you Joe, I definitely dont NEED a sight but Ide like to try one out at least. Ive always used irons and have no problems with them at all but Im curious as to what its like to rock a nice little optic setup.

I thought about an acog for a while but I definitely couldnt easily justify using my rifle over 50 yards at most in my job field lol. My ideal urban interactions would call for an aimpoint or eotech really.

That $400 pro setup is looking mighty fine at the moment actually.. must.resist.calling.vances!

The TA31's ACOG aka Army issue? I've had a bit of experience with them and love them. The Air Force PJ zero target is the best thing I've seen to dial one in. You basically have to keyhole your shots to "zero", but it's a great tool to learn the ACOG. I will say the ACOG will hold zero and keep it there. After all the banging around in the truck and Bradley, I never had a "misplaced" shot. Only downfall I ever had was utilizing the optic at night, or in a dark close environment. Not the best when your #1 in a breach, but thank God for 12 gauge shotguns. Anywho, we had a couple gun fights near Sadr that were beyond the 300 meter range. If it weren't for the ACOG's on our rifles, we might not have caught their muzzle blasts. If you measure up the target inside the elevation lines, you can SWAG a shot.

I may have a source for such products. I'll call and see what he may have. Any preference on optic or you want whatever you can get?

I'd recommend this. I'm so happy with mine, I might just buy another or 3.

I think I might have to pick one of these up. It would go great with the aimpoint 3x magnifier I just picked up from botach for $269 :)

I don't know if they have anymore instock. I ordered mine back in early november. They were a thread on M4 carbine about it. Supposily they were overrans from Jordan with no warranty. But they are legit, they are no different from my other Aimpoint 3x that I purchased a few years back for a ton more money.
