My breeder had another litter of puppies available. I figured I would throw them on here, incase there was any interest.

Her website is bunchofbull-dogs.com

Yeah they are great dogs but they are very expensive. Mine has been the most expensive dog I have ever purchased and has required more care than any dog I have ever owned.

Not to make this a convo thread, but are you talking about a bulldog, and if so, what has been expensive?

Ughhh. I usually don't even argue this.

2k for a dog is stupid.

Just as stupid as 2k for a set of rims, or 30k for a car that you drive only in summer that depreciates every year.

Just as stupid as buying top shelf liquor, $900 suits, $160 Nike shox, or $150 north face coats.

They are a unique dog. Very chill, very loving, and require very little "maintenance" contrary to popular belief.

Typical expenses just to have a litter are usually 3k. (insemination, vet appointments, X-ray, c section, shots, medicine, and registration fees. )

Have one or two dogs, and you lost money.

They aren't for everyone, but don't be as ignorant as the people that judge you and your car habits.

Mods feel free to leave the misc posts up. I don't mind.

I'm not even debating the merits of the dogs you listed. In fact, I would purchase one of those way before buying a pet store dog. They look great.

Glws.

If the bloodline had health problems, this can be common.

Knock on wood none of the ones I know personally have had any problems at all. (a couple dozen dogs that friends and family own)

It was more directed at sturg and mrtbolt.

No big deal at all though. Just throwing the other side of it out there.

I understand that its unique and it will live forever, be a longterm family friend much better purchase than car options. The overbreeding for the sake of money/lack of responsibility to the point of taxpayers intervention is the issue. I am not saying dont breed and adopt, just that the over population in unwanted dogs take away from what should be a unique experience. My boxer doesnt seem so special knowing theres thousands of dogs sitting in a room because I was to ignorant to get one of them. Regulation in breeding should be more enforced and then charge $10k for a pure breed.

I definitely see that side of it.

I have always been dead set of owning an English bulldog. The woman who's link I listed is a really close family friend, so I grew up around them. I mainly wanted one because I hate small dogs, and I have too much nice stuff to have a large hyper dog around.

I tried for a couple years to find a "rescue" bulldog and there were none at all in Ohio, Pennsylvania, or west Virginia.

If anyone wants a kind of dog, and that breed is available from a shelter, I would much rather see them get one of those.

Are the bulldogs the ones whose design pretty much forces them to live a crappy life? Everything being compacted in their bodies to the point they cant breath or walk far and have joint issues?

They can be.... But not necessarily.

It's all in the genetics. I know mine does not have an enlarged pallet ( so she breathes just fine) and she has no joint problems.

The problem stems from people who don't know what they are doing, breeding two lines that aren't genetically compatible.

Yes my English Bulldog will be 6 in May. We have had him since he was 3 months old.

Original Price 2400

3 eye surgeries at 750.00 a piece

Constant tail infections that require meds and vet visits. One of the defects of the breed. Not all are afected but many have this problem. They say the only way to prevent this from happening is a 2,800.00 surgery.

My dog does not have any breathing issues though.

I have been a Boxer owner my whole life and this is my first Bulldog. I can tell you that Bulldogs are an awesome breed. Mine is the most friendly, laid back mild mannered dog that I have ever owned. He is my 1 year olds best friend. However he goes ape shit if he even hears another dog.

Most of my other dogs have been pretty maintenance free. A yearly visit to the vet and thats it.
