Casper
This is a part of this thread: http://www.ohio-riders.net/showthread.php?t=23872Should we be more strict on the flame wars? When people start getting into pissing matches, should we continue moving the threads to the Edumacated Fucksticks section and let them go, or should we close them. Should we give infractions to those who constantly flame others?
jarvismb
I think moving them to a section that is not included in the home page updated threads (as we currently do) is the best move. We don't tell people what they can and can't say, we simply tell them if they're going to do it, they have to do it away from the main section. Also, what constitutes an infraction? People may get pissed that their strong opinions were viewed as flaming, or vice versa. We should certainly stop the thread in a case of threatened violence, but again, we already do that.I think you do the right thing now and it should be kept as is.... bigbluebird
i cant speak to much. i say if it devolves to the point where it serves no purpose then close it, but as long as its still civil or still funny let it go

There's a certain point when things have to be dealt with but mindless ranting is hard to rate as infractions..

Disclaimer
I like letting them go because then we have a 'permanent record' of sorts for everyone and what they've said. People can judge for themselves who's immature, lacks class, has a temper, etc. etc. etc. The real you comes out in the heat of an argument. We can see how people really are.Though having a public record for public embarrassment may be an immature idea in itself? Big Green Valley
I say, let the flame wars go on for at least until the grievances are aired out. But once it becomes redundant and it appears to come to an impass, close it down.
