Used to race but everything I have is slow now

Hi All,

I'm new(er) to Columbus. I used to race actively back home in the NE and in the Akron area. I started with a Eagle Talon TSI - blew up the tranny, replaced it and sold that. Then I bought a RX-7 Turbo II. It sported a 62 trim turbo and was the fastest car I ever drove. Unfortunately, it blew a rotor housing so I sold that for a B18C civic. The civic was just slow, no way around that. I sold the civic for my R6.

I ran a whole season in street bike class on my R6 and did pretty well. I sold that to help a friend buy a car and now I have a rebuilt 91 Yamaha 600. It's slow.

I also used to do rally, up until this year. My brother and I had a fully purpose built 84 VW Rabbit which we won 1st place in just before my Sister-in-Law made my brother sell it... Needless to say, I don't care for her much. We no longer rally or autocross, but I'm hoping that changes with this group!

My daily driver is a 2004 Passat 4 Motion 1.8t. It's as built as it can be without going to a bigger turbo. I'm just waiting for my ko3 to die then I plan on going up to a Gt2871, or about a 250 WHP setup. Right now my setup dynoed at 192 WHP so the extra ~50 or so ponies should feel very nice. Really, $$ is the only thing holding that build up. It is also slow.

Lastly I'm building a 1968 VW Beetle Pickup. I'm trying to finish the body work this year, then it's the Passat's turn to go under the wrench. The Beetle is... unique. I've built a 1600cc ~55hp motor, so you can imagine how extremely fast that is. For the most part, the car is rust free and sits on a good pan (which is most important in aircooled VWs). I've rebuilt all the suspension, brakes and wiring as well as putting my Passat interior on the inside. I've got half the parts for a new ~95 hp motor, I just need time to build it!

So I'm here, posting to you all, looking for a new crew to race with. I don't street race. I learned my lesson in College with that. I only track race, and I love it. It is a safe way to burn off pent up road rage and lead foot syndrome. I found you guys because of the event happening at NT, I'm hoping there is some autocross and rallycross love in the group?

Finally, pics of most of the above:

The rally rabbit after our 1st place finish. I know, crappy pic but I actually don't have any others. It sounds weird, but when you're driving rally the last thing on your mind is pictures!

The only interesting Passat picture. She looks mostly stock, except for the wheels. If you haven't gather it yet, I do all my own work.

The Beetle 1600cc motor build. As you can see, I'm missing half the car.

And the Beetle on her way to the Columbus Auto Show this weekend. Like I said, unique and a work in progress.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I'm excited to get involved in the racing climate again. I had two years packed with excellent driving and riding but when I moved to Columbus it all came to a screeching halt.
