I had bald DRs and new ones in the back seat when I was pulled over on the way to get them mounted. The cop still cited me for bald tires although I had the replacements with me. The reason my tire blew yesterday was because something around the 270/62 construction area was in the road and hooked through the tread of my tire and onto a belt. It literally ripped the tire free of my wheel while leaving the sidewalls attached to the rim. The tire itself was flung about 100' away and still completely round in one piece, minus sidewalls.
