If you are looking for work, I highly suggest looking into over seas contract work. There is work here in the states too. But going over seas is like putting your life on pause. But I'm a firm believer that you have to have some sacrifices to get the things you want. You could go work a couple years over seas, and come back to see that people are still doing the same things and you probably haven't missed all that much. However, you are probably in a far better place financially and you have been places and done things that you actually would probably like. Now, you may have had to live in a large tent with several people. You may have not had internet, or if you did it was slow. The food probably will taste terrible. I have no obligations except for an amazing girlfriend. No kids, no house payment, so this is easier for me to consider than it may be for some. I understand that hardship, but know the end result and it's worth it to us to explore the options of working with these companies. I have seen an office manager who was horrible at their job, making $143,000 a year. I see this and think "I don't even know this job and know I can do it with better efficiency and organization". AWW$HEEET
ive looked into it a few times, less feasible now with a house and crap. roughly 200-300k/yr in IT over there if you've got a clearance.
dover
For some reason it won't let me see what you posted. I have been searching for overseas work for some time now. Thanks Joe
Not Brian
I've heard you don't really get to pick where you go, and the contracts are only for like a year. If I were younger and didn't already have a stable job (and a house) I'd definitely be looking into something like this. (link doesn't work for me either)
evan9381
I might have to really look into this. no kids, no serious obligations, and if brian is right and its a year at a time, if i dont like it, im not tied down for a long time. If i do, it sounds like the potential to make some $ is there

MattKatz
They do. I just got offered a similar job in Kuwait. I passed, 120k wasn't enough to put my life on hold for a year.

Not Brian
Another thing to note is the contractors in our shop had to buy their own tools and rolling tool chest(s) which cost them over ten grand each. link? It was before Youtube got big.. left it on someone's computer and it's gone forever now. GRN96WS6
Correction- First $85k is tax free. Still $85k tax free is nice!!! Wrong it is definitely 92500 or around there. The catch is you have to be outside of the US for 330 out of 365 days, so basically explore the world i went to greece in october instead of coming home. I just got back from doing a year and it was worth it to me. I would love to go somewhere off fervent so I could pay my house off but it isn't a priority as I can easily afford the payment since I eliminated all other debt. Any of the big contractors have worn over there and some of the smaller ones as well. If you're interested I did IT over there ad have no issues giving info if asked. ITT Lockheed Honeywell Northrop Grumman etc all have jobs there.

I'm hoping to go over again but to someplace like France, Germany, Japan, australia etc. I would love I get my home paid off in 5 more years and going over would definitely accelerate that wish. Mojoe
This seems to be something many people are interested in, but not posting very much. I have talked to 2 people this week and tried to answer questions for them. I may not have the answers, but I'll do all I can to point you in the right direction. Military experience is not needed for all Jobs. I don't care if you have only worked at a fast food joint, there is a job in food service that pays $80K to work in the chow hall. Point being, you are probably more qualified than you think for some jobs. Job title is not always a make sense thing. They call it one thing, but then you read the description and realize, hey I can do that. Just read what the companies have posted and check back weekly for new postings. There are a lot of people on this site that really want to do this, based on my above stated lack of obligations. They have told me they are in the same boat. Quit waiting for someone to tell you the one thing you think might be out there to stop you from looking into it, and send your resume. NOW, if you go over seas and are in an area of conflict, UNDERSTAND THE RISKS FOR THE AREA YOU WILL BE IN. Rockets don't care where they land. They don't care if you are military, or civilian. They are pointed at US bases and don't care if they hit a truck, a water tower, a soldier or civilian, or if they even go off. You have to be careful and that all there is. Google the companies above. Click on the site and look for the careers/jobs section. Start reading them carefully. Call or pm me with questions. Understand, I have not been a contractor. I just know there are great opportunities with them, long and short term.
