91 stealth problem

Letting my grandson post a problem he's having with the car......

I have a 1991 Dodge Stealth ES and yesterday I lost power to the wheels. The clutch engages and it goes into every gear, yet no matter what gear I go into the car vibrates and there is a loud grinding sound with no movement. If there is anyone that could help me that would be great.

Thanks,

Mace

Broken axle? I assume that's got an open dif.

Wiggle the two front axles with your hand for starters..

base model car with open diff, the above posts about it being a cv shaft are likely correct. that exact problem happened to my VR4 (same car but all wheel drive). front shafts arent very expensive and can easily be swapped in an hour with hand tools.
