Alex L.
Sick. You moving a lot of 2Jz stuff? There's some stuff going through. I'm still not pushing stuff super hard since I'm still in school full time, but people are starting to know who I am and recognize the brand. Thank you, Rick. It's easily the most rewarding thing I've ever done with my life, and I'm always happy to see more people pick it up. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions. STEVE-O
Been on vacation for over a month sir? I need my fix also you start doing cages yet ?
Alex L.
Ask and you shall receive. I'm not opposed to welding cages if I'm in the mood, but I don't have the tooling to bend them nor do I plan on getting it. Tri-Y wrapped up: A few pics of some pieces on my car: And a couple weld pics. Sometimes you have to hang the electrode the whole way out:
Green Bastard
I always wondered how those welds were done in tight spaces like that. Do you ever have any problems with it arcing to the side or not enough gas flow when you weld with the tungsten (sp?) extended so far? BIGGU
Im not Alex level at Tig welding but when you have the electrode out far like that you really need to turn up the gas to get a good coverage. As far the arcing, it shouldn't as long as the tip if beveled like what Alex has. Alex can correct me if im wrong, im still a noob and learning. When it's starting the arc it'll wander around but once sufficient amperage is obtained the arc will be forced to the tip.
Alex L.
A proper electrode grind and keeping the electrode a reasonable distance from the weldment have always worked for me. Gas flow wise, I was only flowing 35cfh for that weld, which is only 5cfh higher than what I normally weld at. The two collector halves act as a valley and, since argon is heavier than air, the shielding gas pools in that area to provide good gas coverage. Let me know if you guys have any other questions.
