Curious how you expect to cool the air leaving the blower, heading into the intake otherwise?

 

Are you proposing OEM's all use external centrifugal blowers?

No, just not mount a water tank used to "COOL" the air charge on "TOP" of the "HOT" engine built into the "HOT" blower. Simple side or front mount air-to-air unit typically works the best.

 

Those lap times are likely due to the IRS, hence why I am finally excited about a Mustang as the next gen car will finally have it, just hoping it's a decent multilink or something and not what I saw in the spy photos.

There is no water tank on top of the blower.....

Inside of the blower on the output side are the intercoolers.

The coolant reservoir is external and elsewhere in the bay, along with the pump. The front mounted heat exhanger is in the front bumper, unobstructed.

 

By all means, feel free to improve on this.

I'd suggest doing some simple research on how gm/ford have set up the cooling systems on their factory-blown cars before commenting further.

Boss 302 Laguna Seca Mustang: 3:02.8

 

Seems like there doing something right.

 

Nobody uses the full full course at VIR except for a couple of publications. I have no clue why they don't run the traditional "full" course that all the clubs and race organizations use, that would give us a much better comparative data to look at.

Essentially they use a water to air aftercooler under the blower, here you have a 5.4 Lightning motor sans any intake:

Nothing out of the ordinary there for a modular. Next they install the "lower" intake much like the old Windsors:

Here is where things get tight on space. The after cooler sets on top of the intake and under the blower transferring heat much like a radiator:

There are multiple ways to make it more efficient. The best way is a kit that uses the R-134a from the AC system to cool the water, very effective. I also recommend a blower spacer to move the after cooler farther from the lower intake floor ( where my pics came from) to let air move more freely. Thirdly you can do as I did and add a larger cooler pump and move the aftercooler tank tank to the trunk/bed:

wow, i would have thought it would have been closer than that.

that's 2% over a 3mn lap....could be tires, driver skill or just genuine advantage

 

For my money, I'd get the Mustang for my trackrat anyway because it's a bit lighter, which means cheaper running costs in terms of tires and pads
