Mr. Jones
Buddy of mine has 4 kids. He ended up getting some cheap android tablets from Odd Lots IIRC. He said it's all they ever play with now. I think he paid $100sh per unit.

sol740
I bought my son a nook color, then installed full Android on it. Plays everything he wants and had been pretty durable thus far.

SpaceGhost
My 17 month old son can turn on and unlock the screen of the iPad/iPhone. My daughter uses them regularly to learn to read and write and Math. She has been using iOS devices since I have owned the 3G iPhone in 2008. She is 5.5 now. You should be able to score a used 1st gen 16GB wifi iPad for a couple hundred bucks.

Mr. Jones
Why does a 7 year old need a tablet? Need? Far better than any other toys out there. Unlimited free games and stuff, and they get hands on experience with technology early. Maybe if you were exposed earlier, you wouldn't be as retarded as are now. Radio Flyer1647545514
Why does a 7 year old need a tablet? A lot of school districts are moving their testing and things over to this kind of technology. Many jobs are also using these devices in the work field. It's definitely better that they learn to use them now than later.
Putty
Why does a 7 year old need a tablet? You'd be surprised how much they learn from those things. My daughter sings songs, alphabet, puzzles all kinds of shit on it.
