Autocrossed a S2000 Sunday

Despite the cold weather (it was around 45-50*F), NORA had an event and decided to run.

Didn't feel like running my car, as it's put away for the winter. So someone offered a co-driving position and I took it up.

Car was a 2001 Honda S2000, and it was damn fun. Car rewarded patience and smooth lines. Never knew a 4-banger could be so enjoyable.

Ended up placing 3rd overall on PAX index.

Why do you think some of us enjoy Miatas so much? It doesn't take power to create lateral Gs.

Glad you had fun, there is one more autocross I'd like to attend this year depending on weather. Sucks that the season is winding down.

Even on ice cold Star Specs, it was so much fun just tweaking the wheel and having the car go that way.

Not worrying about weight transfer...etc. My first run I clipped 6 cones on the rear wheels from just driving like my car.

You guys are making me wanna try this so bad.

Even if you don't drive. Go out to one and ride shotgun with a couple people. It's addicting.

First time I went to one, I did it for fun...I never stopped since then and I'm going on 3 years.

Clean runs, you seemed pretty on the ball for being in a car you haven't driven very much.

1st run I put the rear end around and ended up heading towards a concrete pillar (the one to the left on the dogleg straight away). Never drove the car prior, I did however pull it into grid :dumb:

The owner and I were going at it. Each run we kept on beating each other's time. My final run I dropped 0.6 seconds off, and he ended up plowing in a turn and I beat him for 0.3 seconds.

It's nice to drive a prep'ed car and do well on PAX (granted PM runs got wet halfway though their run group)

Unless you are Jones in which case, everyone beats your time in your own car.

:fa:

It's how you grow up, I've had my ass handed to me before in my own car and there are plenty of people that can do it any time.

Also, though I've been scorned well for it take any opportunity to drive another car, so damn much you can learn from it.
