TTQ B4U
Set up a new TV and theater area for the "kids" in a section of our lower level including their Wii system and would like to get them a nice 5.1 surround system to go with it as I've since wired that area for it too. I'm open to options and am considering $200-$500 range for new speakers. I already have a very nice Onkyo receiver for the area. What do you have? Thanks! bucd
Hey Tim, Grab this setup here on newegg and pick up a sub. Great bang for the buck. For $129 brand new, you can't beat it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?nm_mc=AFC-TechBargains&cm_mmc=AFC-TechBargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16882269004 Use the provided coupon code to get $20 off EMCYTZT2724 And then get this sub here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?nm_mc=AFC-TechBargains&cm_mmc=AFC-TechBargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16882290034 With coupon code EMCJHHG36 brings it to $79. So just a little over $200 this is a great setup. This sub coupone expires today and the speakers tomorrow. -D

TTQ B4U
CLICKY  We have those surrounds w/ a MTX 10", and damn nice for the price!!! KillJoy That's the one I pulled the trigger on. Ordered it with their 12" powered sub and it's perfect for our needs down in the kids room. Watching a movie in their is great. Gaming kicks ass with that sub too. Thanks everyone!
TTQ B4U
Just a quick Follow up to those interested in a quality system that really kicks ass and enjoys being pushed hard. I recently bought the following for our kids theater room in the basement. Someplace they can watch movies and play games and enjoy some kick-ass music, etc with friends and not have to worry about them playing with my gear. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-696 I have it being driven by a 105w per channel Onkyo system in a room that's about 16' by 18ft and I must say that it fucking kicks ass in there. It's carpetd with some quality padding, etc. so I put a 1" thick piece of oak under the front firing and downward ported 12" sub. I have each channel calibrated via sound meter and let's just say the sub is overkill if up more than 1/2 way but I do like the lows a 12" brings. Especially when gaming. I am working in that room today vs my office and cranking up some music and must say it rocks. Not Paradigm quality but defitnitely way better than the $200 the system sells for. Excellent for movies and games and very good for music. If you're thinking about other lower priced systems, don't hesitate to pick this one. You won't be sorry. Not Brian
Tim, with that set, do all the speakers plug into your receiver or into the sub? How does the sub connect to your receiver?
TTQ B4U
Tim, with that set, do all the speakers plug into your receiver or into the sub? How does the sub connect to your receiver? The sub has a direct input from the sub out on my receiver. The sats plug into the receiver.

Not Brian
I just hooked up the same speakers Tim got, it's nice to hear some ruckus behind me again. Honestly not too bad at all for the $199 price tag (plus speaker stands and stuff though). Still have some fine tuning to do, but call of duty cranked up really gets the blood moving. The girlfriend hates it.
