Diamonds
Hi all, I am going to buy a handgun soon. I want to go to a range and test fire some different guns. Where would be a good place to do so? I live on the north side of town. As far as guns i know i like. I remember a HK USP tactical 45 and a Springfield XD 45. Im also not opposed to looking at 1911's as well. This day and age... what would i expect to pay for a used HK USP tactial or even one with the match setup? Thanks, other rec's would be great too. jerrodh
Love the springfield XDM series. One of my carry guns is an XDM .40 Compact. Like it cause it has the extended mag for a full size grip or a shorter one for carry.
RedRocket1647545505
Blackwing is probably your best bet. Head there. Shoot some guns. Buy what you like.

I would consider it a decent 1911 to start out with. No frills, but I'm sure it won't let you down. My father owns one and has shot the crap out of it. sol740
I'm a fan of everything you mentioned, so I'm with Austin, find a range that has what you're considering for rent, and get a feel for the one you want.

Match barrel, Adjustable sights, Better trigger For me it justifies the extra money and when I want another 1911 it will probably be the one I get. SpaceGhost
New Albany Shooting Range will rent guns before you purchase.
unfunnyryan
does the powder room let you test stuff too? Yes. Last week they were out of 9mm though while already limiting 1 box per person, so you may want to obtain your own ammo.

HotCarl
Powder room does have rental guns but their selection is limited compared to BlackWing. It seems your budget is a bit higher than most. I would suggest shooting some Sig's aswell. By far the best grip I've ever felt on a handgun was on the Sig sp2022 (chambered in 9mm, .40 and .357 i think). Simple polymer frame with steel slide, it was a beut i still kick myself for not picking it up when i have the chance. If you have the budget look at their higher end models also. 2pointslow
Thanks for the advice. Also, has anyone had experience with the Ruger SR1911? I have heard nothing but positive feedback about the gun. Im sure a few people here can chime in about them. The xd/xdm is a great line up as well. If you were thinking about a HK USP 45 Match then you might like the H&K MK23 even better. The USP 45 Match will run you 2Gs. http://www.gunenvystore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16550 USP 45 Tacticool, you are probably looking at around 1200 new, a regular USP45 will run you about 900 to 1000 new. Gander mountain in reynoldsburg has all of H&K USPs in stock, but they are pricy though. I am not a big fan of XDs. I would much rather have a M&P45 Pro with a Apexi Trigger kit installed.
