I had been looking for a clean Firebird with some miles on it that wouldn't exactly be a "collector" car, but one that wasn't abused previously for a turbo build. A friend of mine stumbled upon a 99 Formula getting ready to go to dealer auction with 112k miles. We got too good of a deal to pass up. Car is completely bone stock down to the paper filter. Only thing it had, was window tint. Repair wise - It needed a window motor (which was installed this morning). The dash pad had cracked (We bought a replacement last weekend) and the door panels had cracked (Also found replacements last weekend). Being a Columbus car its whole life it has 2 rust spots that we have appointments with fellow CR members to have fixed within the next month. Outside of that, very solid car. Today we will be putting the car on the dyno to get some completely stock runs for future comparisons. On the previous firebird the rockers where crushed. It had been in a front end accident. It met a ditch and ripped up the bumpers.... it had 170k miles, it wasn't worth sinking a TON of money into upgrades. I wanted to find one that hadn't been wrecked, that was completely stock, and a good starting point for making it the way I want it to be. Not someone else's project.
