Could be worse, we could be driving something you owned.

dont worry, it wont take me 600 plus hp to run 10s:dumb: and with her driving, im sure with a boosted ls1, she will have the fastest 13.5 pass in the world

Made a little progress. I installed another dash pad in the car. And we installed a Hurst Comp plus with a UMI short stick and Hurst shift knob. It made a huge difference. The stock shifter really sucks!

A bunch of the parts we ordered for it came in, just need to make some time to install some of it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Last week we dropped my car off with Matt. He cut out the rusted through part by the drivers side strut tower and welded in a new section. He did an absolutely AMAZING job. You would never know it had rusted through.

While he had the car we also had him weld in Spohn subframes.

The car will be going to Kevin soon to have the engine bay area painted, Firehawk hood installed/painted, and since the rear drivers side panel also had a little bit of rust above the rear tire, he will be replacing that panel as well.

Pics of Matt's amazing work:

Is that a common place for those to rust?

Not sure. We've never seen another one rust all the way through like this. However, we have heard from other people they have seen it happen.

Luckily, outside of this spot, everything else on the car was pretty much surface rust. The spot on the rear fender isn't really that bad. It is bubbling under the paint but hasn't ate through. Parts/bolts rusted everywhere, but almost all of it will end up coming off of the car and being replaced with aftermarket stuff. I wanted the body work out of the way first and any problems it had fixed before doing all of the mods.

  • 1 month later...

Decided to put a K&N intake on the car today, and ended up fixing a bunch of rust.

This is what I started out with.

Sanded down all of the rust, used some rust eating gel crap just in case I missed anything.

Primed.

Goodbye rust!
