Doc1647545523
http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/9781250028082_zps5149b97c.jpg Steve Ulfelder, novelist and co-founder of Flatout Motorsports launches his third novel this May. Some of you met him at the open house at the hangout in October: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106521&highlight=ulfelder or know of him from his first two novels, Purgatory Chasm http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1484285&postcount=4 or The Whole Lie http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103431 He'll be in Delaware May 18th at a booksigning during Ohio Wesleyan's Alumni Weekend and I suspect he'll wander over to the hangout to meet with anyone from CR interested in an inscribed book. From critically acclaimed, Edgar-nominated author Steve Ulfelder—Conway Sax is back in a thrilling and heart-wrenching story of how far a father will go to save his son Conway Sax is a man seeking redemption. A man with a deeply checkered past currently paying for his sins by helping Gus Biletnikov stay sober. Wise-ass Gus, son of a wealthy investment banker, drives Conway nuts. But he also reminds him of his own estranged son, and so Conway finds himself deeply invested in his wellbeing. When a brutal triple-murder takes place in Gus’s halfway house, Conway suspects Gus was the intended victim, and resolves to find the killer in his usual full-tilt, no-holds-barred fashion. The list of suspects soon includes the longtime organized-crime warlord of Springfield, Massachusetts; Gus’s own father, who’s a bundle of insecurity despite his fortune; the father’s second wife, a stunning beauty webbed in ugly motives; and a Houston con man who’ll swipe your gold fillings but crack you up while he does so. But the case is no laughing matter to Conway when somebody close to him is murdered. To find the killer and prevent yet more senseless death, he needs help from both an ambitious Brazilian-American state cop, and an unlikely criminal source. Along the way, Conway’s personal responsibilities clash with his vow to help fellow alcoholics, forcing him to make his toughest decision yet in this crisply written page-turner reminiscent of Robert B. Parker and Dennis Lehane. As dark, soulful and violent as the title would suggest. There’s a real lullaby and some real shotguns. -Kirkus I'll post more details on the event as the date approaches. Doc1647545523
Steve will be do a book signing for the public at Ohio Wesleyan's Alumni Weekend on Saturday, May 18th around 3 p.m. He's fine with having interested CR members come to that event at the OWU bookstore. However, at noon he'll be at the Hangout exclusively for CR members to meet and to have a book signed, if you wish. That's the weekend for Mo-power at NTR, and Saturday night is the Newark Meet. However, this is middle of the day and would be a good stop after Cars & Coffee. Edited May 3, 2013 by Doc
Draco-REX
Cool. I'll try not to schedule something on top of this again.
Alex L.
I doubt I'll be able to meet him this time, but I'll definitely be picking up a copy of the book.
Cordell
My daughter's birthday is that weekend so I have no idea how my schedule will work out.
Doc1647545523
Steve wants to come by the Hangout at noon on Saturday. Any interest in going to lunch early after Cars & Coffee, then cruising to the Hangout? Steve will have copies of his first three novels available for signing. Doc1647545523
Three days away http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/party0024.gif And this is one of the weekend's car events that won't be dampened by rain, guaranteed. It will help me to know how many people would be interested in stopping for lunch first. My original thought was that I would leave Cars & Coffee around 10, stop for lunch on the way to Delaware, then arrive around noon at the Hangout for the book signing. Besides OWU's alumni weekend, this is also the weekend of the Art Festival, which means downtown Delaware will be closed to traffic, so keep that in mind if you're heading up to the Hangout on your own. Any thoughts on where you'd like to eat? My thoughts are to avoid downtown Delaware and either hit Five Guys on US23, Corner Café on Delaware's east side, or Dairy Point (better than it sounds). Aaron
I won't make lunch, but I should be able to be there on Saturday.
Doc1647545523
Glad to hear it, Aaron. If you come up US23 and take the first Delaware exit (South Sandusky Street), you can make it to the Hangout and avoid the street festival detours. I suggest people avoid coming up I-71 and trying to drive across downtown.

Always see it, but I've never been.
Draco-REX
I have to meet a buyer for the Ambulance at 10. But I should be there for the signing. Will there be copies of the book there for sale?
Doc1647545523
There will be extra copies of all three novels for sale. However, Steve is giving one book to each CR member in attendance at no charge, just as he did with his first and second novels. He's happy to autograph them or write a special inscription to personalize it for you if you'd like.

Aaron
Looking forward to it. I'll bring my autox trophy to show you doc. I was victorious over a certain someone for the first time!
Doc1647545523
I think the trophy should be put on special display at the Hangout. Perhaps we'll commission an oil painting of you speeding across the finish line with a sad Panda Jones looking on.

Doc1647545523
That's awesome! too bad I have drill this weekend... I forgot to post our special armed forces rule: If you're deployed or on drill, choose the novel you want and Steve will autograph it for and leave it for you to pickup at the Hangout. http://www.ulfelder.com/books/ Thanks for reminding me.
