Fishing Season is Officially in!

Spent 8 hours on a river float on Saturday and ended up with 8 smallies and around 10 rock bass. I mainly lake fish, and this was one of my first times out river fishing, but had a great time and learned a lot from a fellow OGFer about technique and equipment.

I went Saturday morning to a pond just off Alum creek. It began to rain like crazy! Fish started biting...Pulled in about two 10 to 12lb cats. A small mouth. Then as I was pulling a cat off my line...something grabbed my other line and snatched the whole fucking pole in the water faster than I could even grab it.

This guys videos are pretty decent. Looks like he is catching some pretty big fish in the Scioto and Olentangy. I am going to have to try out some of his spots.

The one at the scioto looks very familiar since I work downtown. I cannot seem to figure out where he is here...

Just got back for fishing in the Upper Peninsula with my friend and his dad. We didn't do too bad overall, but every fish was hard-fought to get; we put in some serious hours.

Last night of the trip I managed to land this thing within the first 5 minutes of trolling:

7lb, 9.5oz, 28"

Here's a little bit better picture of my friend holding it:

Me and the GF are going to go out early Sat morning for a few hours....Recommendations to where to hit? Bank fishing of course.

If you are staying local... I have caught fish below the dam at griggs the last 3 times out there. I was using a small top water crankbait.
