SpaceGhost
I think 8pm is for east coast, we will still have light. So maybe a bit later.

Looking at GOES, they are slowly retreating to the north. The clearing line is currently about 30 miles south of the city.

Rocky31186
Last time this was close I drove out to buckeye lake away from all lights. Your also suppose to let your eyes adjust to night time. So you cant go from inside to outside and magically see it.. Im going to try and get some photos tonight, but my guess is we wont see anything

6 Speed S4
Wonder if I'll be able to see this in Dublin? I can usually see stars well from my yard. Its not surronded by city lights or anything.
jeffro
Last time I saw them we went to Morrow Co and saw them. I am going to head up to Lewis center. Might even get a camp fire going and sip some beers. I say sip because last night we chugged... lol
Doc1647545523
Joe, IMHO, no. Usually the aurora is very faint at this latitude, fainter than bright stars. If you go to a place dark enough where you can see the Milky Way, then you have a chance to see the aurora (on special nights such as tonight). There's hardly anywhere in Franklin County where I can see the Milky Way even on the clearest, moonless night. Tonight, the moon is a cresent, but doesn't set until almost midnight. Perhaps your eyes are better than mine, though.

SpaceGhost
with all the light contamination around Columbus, good luck with this In 04 I saw them driving on 71N just south of Polaris. All by surprise, I was like what is that, then it hit me, and we just went north and it was really cool.
mmrmnhrm
I usually check http://helios.swpc.noaa.gov/ovation/ when folks get all psyched up, dunno how it compares to Ben's link (same gov't agency, but different data)
