Volunteer Work for PetPromise.org

So i started volunteering for this rescue this week. I help out by taking good photos of dogs that should show their personality and looks much better than a quick snapshot at the shelter or foster home.

The first two dogs were both Pit Mixes.

Bonnie, a blue and white 10 month old was just beautiful. Her shiney chrome coat and typical spotted eye was spunky and and loving. She immidiately came over to say hi to me before exploring the studio. She sat for the camera very well and didnt flinch at all for the lights. She loves to cuddle and wanted to sit in your lap and be petted.

Lexi- an 8month old fawn colored girl was full of pep. Her eyes are amazing to, they mach her fur and are so pretty.

She was on the go from the moment she came into the studio. She ran and sniffed and jumped and was so happy. I had a hard time at first getting her to sit still even for a split second to get a shot of her. She wanted to be RIGHT with you and licking your face.

I tried the squeaky ball with her at first, she was SUPER excited about it.. but it wasn't a motivator for her. Soon.. i figured out that food was her SUPER motivator. It only took about 3 tries to get her to know the sit command for food. (Her foster mom had just picked her up the day before and wasn't aware of her motivations yet)

As soon as she saw a treat though, she immediately went to the sit position and let me take some photos. She will definitely be a dog would would love some agility training i bet.

Tig- i believe is some sort of hound/beagle/boxer mix.

Very Cute, easy to learn with, and very cute.

Great pictures and a good way to volunteer doing something you already like. Might inspire me to do the same although not as good of a result!

My Fiancee works with child protective services. She tells me some families can't afford family pictures (never had any) etc etc been thinking about helping there.

Meet Wallace, hes an 11 month old pit/hound mix

He's kinda dopey and silly. He likes to roll around with ya, and lick. Even though he's kinda dopey and big, i think he's a pretty laid back, chill kinda dude. I can see him easily becoming a couch potato, or a fun loving hiking dog.

He loves a big ball, and has a great personality. He's a big boy, probably close to 50+lbs right now, and i venture will be clsoer to 65 at full weight, but his head i think is where all the weight is! (its HUGE compared to his body!) AFAIK he's good with other dogs, he has two other dogs in his foster home, but he's not neutered yet, due to the mange he had when found. THey are trying to get him fully healed from that before neutering. I think he'd be a great garage dog, as well as a true companion inside. He likes his people, bu seems to be able to entertain himself as well. He greatly enjoyed watching the people come in and out of my building, but didnt bark.

I will say if you do decided to do this, there are MANY shelters, im sure, as well as foster families with ODJFS who'd love to be a part of this.

I know Columbus Dog Connection needs a photographer, and im sure there are quite a few more around here who need help.
