They are very violent and can come to a stop pretty quick. The guy from the shop was saying that the seat might have failed too, and that would cause even more energy to be transfered. They said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the neck, and if you're saying the HANS and seat are broken, I'm assuming something flew off the car and hit him during the accident.
