Is China and/or North Korea and/or Iran going to attack the US?

There's been a lot of talk in the news the past few years about the Chinese thinking the US government is going to screw them out of the money they've borrowed, and China has been recently building their military. North Korea seems to be their bipolar stepchild. Both have announced they have each other's support. Oh, and don't forget about Iran... they helped North Korea with that rocket launch...

Here are some links. Add more if you want. So, what do you think?

that would be something but i dont think there that stupid

Why would they be stupid? Their military is nearly twice our's. They own 90% of our debt. They have just as many if not more nuclear weapons. Etc... I think we, the US, are the stupid ones here. Why would we borrow so much money from a country we know doesn't like us and doesn't agree with our form of government?

Socially, economically and politically, it's already underway. Defaulting on loans would mean we win, sort of, but lose at the same time. Iran prints more US dollars than the USA, all counterfeit, just to mess with us. North Korea is still technically at war with the UN and the USA, ever since the Korean War Armistice. Physically they do not have the proper military equipment and resources to do anything at all, to us here in North America. (With the exception of long range ICBM (InterContinental Ballistic Missiles). And that is a war they would lose anyway. We would, without a doubt, fire them back. They would have to draw us into a war in their own backyard to accomplish anything. (Already close to it in some places.) Even then, China owns only enough strategic fuel reserves to wage a full blast war of only about 3 weeks at maximum. After that, they are walking. But they are now working on that, building up more in storage.

So no...not yet... but some day, yes...

I don't think China has very many nuclear weapons at all. Sort of like France. France has just enough of them, to be a deterrent, to prevent anyone from attacking them. But France won't say how many, and neither will China. It is very likely that our own US Navy submarine fleet, alone, has more nuclear weapons than all of China. Many times over, actually. And guess where they are located for duty...

But the idea of China waging war is not unheard of. China fought a lengthly border war with Russia, and not that long ago. It was in a remote area where news teams would never be going. All data came from satellite surveillance, and little of that was released to the American public. Damage done to both sides in equipment and lives was pretty darn extreme. But mostly it was a complete standoff, neither side won anything. China fought a quick border war with North Vietnam, after the Vietnam War. China got their butts handed to them pretty drastically, by North Vietnam. North Vietnam had a huge amount of active military experience at that time.

China is dependent on us economically. Attacking us would serve no purpose unless they intended to go all the way.

Unlike other communist countries China is far more capitalistic in its approach.

I just don't see an attack, in the sense of imminent war etc. happening. However, I can see occasional confrontations simply as a function of flexing political and military egos,

out of military boredom and stupidity if nothing else.

honestly it would be pretty hard for china to attack us... at least with an army. yeah they have the numbers, but how would they get here?

1) Attack Japan

2) Confiscate all the Jet Ski's, waverunners etc

3) Work an agreement out with Somalian pirates for re-fueling

4) ATTACK

Hmmm... ok that plan needs a little work

+1 to all that hot mess.

I thought this was going to be a poll thread? And I appreciate all the reading material Casper.

I think what's going to keep something from really breaking out is N Korea knows that it'd become them against the world, and one country can't really fight everyone else very well.

I don't think so. It'd be them, North Vietnam, China, Iran, etc against us and some of Europe. They'd win.

And more hacking:

like Mencia said

japan learned their lesson...OTHER COUNTRIES TOOK NOTE

"we bomb pearl harbor, we celebrate, then we get 2 bomb...

bomb so big, even our penises get smaller"

and compared to the bombs that hit hiroshima and nagasaki, we've expanded these things IMMENSELY, 100 fold...

as far as china is concerned...how are we going to repay them their debt when we're at war with them? who's going to facilitate that? if your friend owes you money and you try to kick his ass, he's less likely to want to pay you back...right?

they have NOTHING to gain by going to war with us...and a LOT to lose.

I saw the hacking story earlier. I can't believe our system are that vulnerable..well, actually, yes I can. I deal with security all day long, and the only secure system is one that's not networked and doesn't have any sort of physical access to it.

That being said..I hope Obama or whoever he has in charge is taking a good long look at this. It's been happening for years...but it needs to stop. Granted, the sensitive data is not networked (supposedly), but if ANY system should be protected properly it needs to be the Government's systems that store weapons data. I'd be willing to bet these 'hacks' weren't all that complicated either.

believe it or not the military strategically uses the media. The lie about the location of military ships when they are moving them so that they are safer. Do you really believe they would drop bombs on a location where leaders of our enemy are know to be at? Hell no they know too much info so we drag them out get some info from them, after that we drop bombs to cover it up and announce it to the media weeks or months later.

What ever your think our military capabilites are multiply that by 100 and you are probably close.

Wu's deputy, Vice-Admiral Ding Yiping, told the state news agency Xinhua. "The suspicions would disappear if foreign counterparts could visit the Chinese navy and know about the true situation."

geez... we've been trying to exchange military personnel since back in the 80s, and China refuses. They are willing to come and see all our stuff when invited, but will not return the favor. China is closed to foreign military. (closed to any that are NATO or Western, anyway.)
