So, for the anniversary this year with the wife, thought it would be relaxing and peaceful to rent a cabin in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area.

Looking at renting a single bedroom cabin for a long weekend. Anyone here ever done this? Have recommendations? I'm open to suggestions.

Timber Top Cabin Rentals is who we used. Had a blast. Very clean, modern, etc.... Ours had hot tubs, game room, grills, great view, etc....

We went much larger and plush but they have all kinds. We stayed about 20 minutes east of the main park entrance. Grocery/Supply store at the bottom of the mountain (about a 15 minutes drive down)

All good suggestions.

We use a private cabin owned by a friend of ours. Great couple, clean cabin, not on a crowded "cabin rental" property, and priced well. It's a 2 br, wrap around porch, hot tub, master br jacuzzi in the bathroom (2 bathrooms total), sat tv, wood burning fireplace, great kitchen/dining area, and again...private.

I can get the info from the folks if you would like. Prices are comparable to your standard hotel rates or better and you're essentially in your own mountain home. Has a stellar view of Mt. LeConte (which I HIGHLY recommend hiking). Also, you MUST grab a steak at the Smoky Mtn. Brewery.

Here's a pic of the outside when we went a couple years back.

We just went a couple of weeks ago and used; http://www.smokeymountaincabinspecials.com/

It was really nice and off the beaten path. In fact, there are about 8-9 cabins on a private "road" (its a one lane gravel 1/2 mile road) and they were priced really well. Going back in November.

I use http://www.watershedcabins.com

They are located on the south eastern part of the Smokey Mountains in Bryson City, NC. typically I find that staying away from Pigeon Forge forces me to enjoy the outdoors but only an hour away. Lake Fontana is nearby as is kayaking, white water rafting etc and boat rentals.
