wnaplay1647545503
I do not have a smart tv but a buddy gave me an old computer thing that connects to our tv basically a little computer and our tv is the monitor. I was also able to get an app that lets me contol the computer from my phone. Is it possible to control the volume and channels of my tv with my phone? Benner
Galaxy S4 will work as a remote for most tv/cable boxes
Not Brian
You would need to buy hardware that converts bluetooth to IR
wnaplay1647545503
Gotcha. Brian, alex gave me the computer thing then showed me how to use an app to control it. I was just trying to also control the tv with my phone, volume for tv and then the cable box. I wasnt sure if i could somehow setup my optimus f3 phone like a universal remote. mrhobbz
If your phone has an IR blaster you can pretty much use any IR receiver on your "media" pc. Most newer phones do have IR transmitters on them now (although I'm not sure on the S4)
Sledhead36
Probably cheaper to get a universal remote and program it from Radio Shack

1fast5gp
if you have a phone with IR then yes. Like a S4 or HTC one. I use my S4 as a universal remote at home when I can't find the cable remote. lol.

Fubar231
Im assuming the Galaxy S3 doesnt have the IR Transmitter in it?
CRed05
If your cable box connects to wifi then it might be possible. I can control all my Directv boxes with my phone/tablet via wifi.
jeffro
Im assuming the Galaxy S3 doesnt have the IR Transmitter in it? No. My old roommate had a htc one and it has an IR port on it. he had no issues programming it to the tv. Keep in mind though, it did NOT work with the cable box. My GS4 has one. Never thought about using it though.
