red1993sol
Hey guys the girlfriend has a 2010 civic lxs with 100k. We just replaced the ac compressor this weekend and that fixed our noisy clutch but the same time we fixed that/ it went out the battery won't stay charged over night. The battery was just replaced in January and the the parts store just gave us another one last night. It will be fine sitting a few hours and going to start it but when she slept over night got up to leave for work it was dead. I know something's draining it but just trying to get suggestions on what way to look. We drove the car for a hour or so yesterday no problems but like I said over night and nothing. The alternator did check out when testing with the dvom. But looking for a direction or common issues to look for. Thanks
STEVE-O
Check first as foremost all lights that could be left on glovebox? Under hood even etc is where I would start
Gergwheel1647545492
make sure the alternator is plugged back in correctly? I know you have to remove it to get to the AC.
red1993sol
Checked both of what you guys have stated. Both good, it was just weird that both systems took a crap at the same time also the serpentine belt has been replaced.
Cordell
If the battery starts the car fine, then doesn't in the morning it has nothing to do with the alternator. You have a draw somewhere and need to firgure out where. Rocky31186
Does the AC clutch engage as soon as you plug it in? almost sounds like a stuck relay sending voltage to the compressor when the key is off. Maybe what originally caused the bad compressor... With the key off, pull the ac clutch relay and see if it releases.
red1993sol
Awesome I'll try that tomorrow , I'm at work right now. I figured it was some sort of drain just wasn't sure I'll look into this in the am hopefully can realize this thanks
Rocky31186
I have diagnosed a few Ford Explorers with battery draw issues as AC relay stuck causing constant power going to the ac clutch. Not saying its your problem but if both occurred at the same time, I would check it.
red1993sol
Well it's worth a shot to look into , like I said it was just weird they both took a crap the same time so I kind of figured it was something linked together so it sounds good hopefully it is being a cheap fix
red1993sol
Fixed ended up being the ac clutch relay like you said thanks!
