Any homelink experts?

Recommended Posts

I have tried programming the homelink buttons in my wifes car several times since we bought it and it just doesnt work. I followed both english and canadian instructions repeatedly as well as any I was able to find online and nothing. My handheld works fine but cant get this homelink to do anything.

The kicker is when I hit the button my learning light on the opener flashes so I know its making some sort of connection it just doesnt activate the opener.

You probably have a garage with a rolling code. You need to program it with one of the extra remotes and then link it to the garage door. I don't remember the exact procedure, but erase/reset the car, put it into the learning mode, walk to the front of the car and press the remote a few inches away from the front bumper. The car's lights should flash for confirmation. Then hit the learn button on the garage and press the homelink button in the car.

That is correct...... You first have to program the car to an extra remote and then do the learn button on the opener. The first thing you do is put the remote up to the Homelink unit and push the remote button and the homelink button in at the same time for like 30 secs. the light on the homelink will flash after it excepts the code. Then push the learn button on the garage unit and push the same button on the homelink again till the light on the garage unit flashes... That's it...... Be patient...It can be stubborn.

The trick is to get the remote synced to the homelink......Just keep that remote button pushed and the button that you are programing pushed in at the same time.... IT TAKES A LONG TIME before it starts to flash rapidly.. Then your ready for the garage. That programs quick and easy at that point...
