BrianZ06
I hate that commercial. Anyway this is old news for some here but I have been searching for an old wagon for a while and finally bought one. I was thinking about buying an old pick up and do the rat rod thing, but after thinking about all the work involved and what I would end up with I decided to go this route. Its a 63 Buick Lesabre Estate 9 pass Wagon. I wanted something different. It has a 401 Nailhead,st400,trans,3:23 posi rear. It does have power steering with power drum brakes, and a power rear window. As far as plans right now, my goal is to make it a reliable driver and do some rust repair but no repaint. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc178/1fstws6/IMG_20140907_135753_035_zpseorcofex.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc178/1fstws6/IMG_20140907_135846_997_zpso5fqvqwf.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc178/1fstws6/IMG_20140907_135649_186_zpsx1ega5bv.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc178/1fstws6/IMG_20140907_140103_558_zpsqigfmbx2.jpg

wagner
Dude, that's pretty bad ass. That 401 Nailhead is a pretty bad ass motor to have in there and I would leave it. I'm a Wagon slut and I can tell you I did not see a single one of these at Goodguys.
SRTurbo04
God that's sweet! I always talk about wanting and old odd ball car to cruise.
BrianZ06
Im keeping the drivetrain as is. The 401 is great old engine. As far as seeing another one on the road or even at show would be rare.

spankis
This is very very cool. I'm a huge classic wagon fan myself and can would likely seek out something similar if I ever buy a classic.
cstmg8
That is awesome, makes me want to load the family up and head across the country. You almost need to find some antique luggage to strap on top for shows!!
El Karacho1647545492
Fuckin' hell that's awesome. I love Buick wagons, I'd love something like that if I had the money or space.

Geeto67
60's power steering units are floaty. There should be an underdrive pully to take some of that out but I would consider a steering box upgrade as well as ditching your rag joint for a U-joint. As long as you have the wheels might as well put big disc on there as well. They measure stopping distance of those old land yachts in miles not feet. Though to be fair it looks like you have the best drums from that era - the big finned buick aluminum drums. 401's are thirsty mothers too...but nothing that a BOP bolt patterned built 200R4 couldn't handle. Yes it has the big fin drums, it stops better then I expected. The previous owner rebuilt the brakes. Maybe down the road I will do disc. I actually like the look of the big old drums showing. Steering is not that bad. I'm aware of the upgrades. Maybe down the road. I noticed a few new front end parts also. Now an overdrive tranny would be very nice. Im just glad its a 3 speed auto and not a 2 speed.
