Cleaning Corrosion off Pistons?

Hey All,

So I have these aluminum motorcycle racing pistons. They were in great shape when I got them but I had them stored in a bad part of my storage locker in NY and it looks like an animal got in and pissed on them (smells like it too). Since they sat like this they corroded where the urine was.

I have washed them but anybody have a good suggestion about cleaning the corrosion? Do the finishes have to be machined, or can I just hit it with an emory cloth (like a scored piston) and then polish them? They are really rare and I would hate to have to toss them in the trash because of this.

Thoughts? (beyond the usual don't store stuff where animals can pee on them).
