If you haven't been following the Battlebots thread, there were a couple kinda off-topic posts regarding a challenge by a team from the USA after having built themselves a giant robot. Below is a copy of the post regarding both of these robots and their accompanying vids followed by a link to Jalopnik regarding the Japanese acceptance and acceptance video.

This is what really needs to have a show

Watched that vid last night and accompanying one showcasing the Japanese robot. It would be far better than that tripe they tried to show a couple seasons ago, Robot Combat League.

Other robot's vid:

Acceptance vid for those who don't care about the short article:

This is all I could think about when I heard that the US had made a giant robot and was going to fight Japan's giant robot.

Maybe one or two people will get this. It's Maxter Gundam from G-Gundam...because... Gundam fights!!!

Looking forward to the 28 minutes of talking and commercials followed by 2 minutes of halfassed malfunctioning robots shooting paintballs at each other or whatever

To be fair, the guy said it would be a melee fight only... I would say it would be more like a half working version of rock em sock em robots.

You recording it with a VCR?

Actually, probably a lot of truth to that statement if it's aired.
