would would CR do....

Had my vette parked at school, guy parked next to me in a no parking zone and looks like he hit my vette in three places scratching my paint. I took pictures and I saw he had a traffic ticket on his truck.

Should I call my INS tomorrow and go after him and try to get it repaired, or is it a lost cause that is just going to get my rates to go up?

Pics.

You can see a spot of red pain that matches my car, and the damage on his door edge.

That looks like the truck driver had carelessly opened the door and let it fly open hitting the Corvette. The damage appearance can be minimized but the lost of paint will require more work. It's unfortunate that the truck driver didn't leave a note which is, also unfortunately, not a surprise behavior nowadays.

It really depends on you how the damage should be treated. If minimizing it is enough, then insurance needs not involved. Repairing/painting the door panel and mirror will cost hundreds of dollar but might be less than deductible and if you're concerned about records then it might show up.

If you took pics, I'd have called the police even if you think they wouldn't have done anything. Then if you want to risk your rates, call your insurance, I would.

In all reality I likely would've been pissed off and kicked a couple big dents on the other side of the truck and went home.

Couldn't you have called the police and filed a report right then and there? I would have waited for the asshole to come back to his truck and got his information.

Didn't want to wait, also I know the police would not come out to file a report, they will not come out for accidents unless there is an injury. I can file one over the phone though.

You should've immediately contacted your insurance and called the local police station to file a report. You are incorrect in your assumption and you shouldn't have rushed off. It'll be much harder to get that inconsiderate asshole to pay, now.

I had the same thing happen in a parking lot in Delaware. Guy pulled in and scratched the RAV in the process. Left his van parked right beside us. It was obvious he was responsible. We notified our insurance who then suggested we file a report. Contacted Delaware Police and they sent an officer out to file a report and attempt to find the van's owner inside a nearby bar. After failing to do so but having acquired all the info he needed, the officer left him a note, as well. I took photos, they were never needed, and we left. Later, he admitted fault and his insurance issued us a check. Problem solved.

Called insurance and they looked up his info and are filing a claim. Going to have a body shop look at it.

How do I convince body shop they need to repaint the whole car to fix those scratches lol... jk.

Agent said it defiantly looks like he did it.

I just had a similar situation 2 weeks ago with my wife's 2014 Passat. You are pretty much screwed, since this was in a parking lot. It is your word against the other, so no fault. My wife's car is over at Clifford's to get the rear bumper repainted at my expense.

Some f-tard did this to me at Home Depot the other day. I was loading my car and hear a "tink/thump" sound. I said to myself "WTF?" I hear the guy say to his child its "Okay". I looked at the guy right when he jumped in his SUV and he fled the parking lot while I had two carts full of water softener salt still to load.

Needless to say I now have a 3in scrape/dent in my door that will forever remind me of this careless prick.

They "will" come if your word your call correctly........

Kinda like this ...... Yes, that is correct, there is no injury from this property damage accident, but I will be waiting for the owner to return, and then there WILL be injury.

And yes, I have done that before, it will generally get a couple of units to arrive quickly.
