Those talons are literally like needles. Not even an exaggeration. Dispatching prey with them is usually not an issue as they usually just slide right in and hit the vitals. I was with them this weekend when this bird nailed a rabbit. I didn't get it on video though as the bird got it right over a small hill so I didn't see the moment it captured it. Had both talons right on the bunny's head. When these hawks are actually trying...it's incredible what they are capable of in regards to capturing prey.
