98WS6
i have a buddy who purchased a Nissan 300zx TT and the turbo's are shot. He wants to get them rebuilt but only thing he is able to find is buying new ones at $900 a piece. From what i have been able to find they are a hybrid turbo that was only put together for this specific car. Is there any options for him other than buying new for $900 a piece, or send to garrett to be rebuild for $750 a piece. He is just wanting to get the car driving without it looking like a cold start on a kenworth tractor trailer. Thanks for any help and advice. Green Bastard
Is he knowledgable enough to figure out how to rebuild them himself and then have them rebalanced? It is honestly not to difficult to rebuild a turbo.
Geeesammy
It will honestly be easier to send them out. I owned a 300zx tt for a few months and sent them out to a shop and got a really good deal on it. Less for both than he would be paying for one, but they are not doing it anymore. A friend may have a spare good set laying around. I'll ask around and update soon
98WS6
He thought about rebuilding them but everywhere he is reading that the rebuild kit has to be ordered from Garrett and its pricey, he doesnt trust the ebay kits. After doing some research it seems that the way to go is t28's from a S14 SR20. The car already has catback and larger intercoolers and boost controller, previous owner said it has larger injectors and flash tune, but not verified yet. ^^^ thanks for looking. Patterson
Turbo Labs of America can handle the T25's with ease.
99StockGT
Upgrade time? Typically speaking you can get aftermarket turbos for damn near the same cost of replacing/rebuilding stockers. Isn't that how this drug works? "Well I COULD replace it with stock parts ... but.... for just a liiittle extra..."
