Brake line size?

Guys, I was replacing rotors, pads, and the rotten rubber wheel brake lines on my 1978 Lincoln Continental when the last nut froze to the hard line. I PB Blasted, flare wrench'd, and eventually ViseGrip'd...but just rounded off the nut connecting the hard line from the car to the rubber wheel brake line.

A buddy is letting me borrow his 3/16" flare tool to redo the hard line, but for the last half-hour I've had a heck of a time trying to figure out what the "factory" hard line size is. The nut used a 5/16"s flare wrench if that helps.

Please advise, or let me know where to go. All the online sites (RockAuto, JCWhitney, parts stores) were worthless...
