caseyctsv
Ok one me my good friends has the following requirements for a car: 1) seats 5 2) able to tow a small trailer (just a 2 person fishing boat) 3) able to put another 100k miles (dude drives a lot and keeps cars) Here is the killer - 5-8k budget. I am like dude - spend 10-15k and this is easy. That being said, he is firm on his budget. Cars I have suggested: 2004 Nissan Xterra 2007 Explorer 2004 Toyota Highlander 2005 Volvo XC90 What am I missing - anything on this list to avoid? zeitgeist57
Does it have to be AWD/4WD? Panther. http://www.patfromjersey.com/32ford/00351a.jpg

o0n8
Mini van I'm actually going to second this. I third this. Mazda 5? Possibly an older Suburban but it will already have a ton of miles, parts should be cheap and plentiful though.
Lauren
This pathfinder fits the bill. They are tanks and will easily last another 100k miles. http://dayton.craigslist.org/cto/5861100294.html

Dammit Charlie
Does it have to be AWD/4WD? Panther. http://www.patfromjersey.com/32ford/00351a.jpg This, kind of a no brainer. I might be picking one up myself.
zeitgeist57
I'd definitely recommend a minivan (love our Odyssey)...but a $5k to $8k one? First-gen Kia Sedona was a full-frame minivan, but most of them are ragged out...
