Cordell
Since that job will likely be face to face with customers I'd say business casual would be the norm. I'm a tech, I only have to be clean for a job, I dress decent but typically wear jeans. The advice at the top of this thread is good. Otis Nice
Don't show up in jeans, t shirt, and rubber boots covered head to toe in mud. Had a guy Show up like that once. That guy is a hard worker who isn't afraid to do what's necessary. I'd hire him given his credentials were decent. Just wear khakis and a polo. You're applying at a place I buy my windshield wiper fluid from. Who gives a fuck. Sound advice actually. That's what I was initially thinking. However all my Polo's are bright and faggity colored. Not exactly what you're used to seeing in the Industry. Looks like I have some shopping to do either way. http://www.walmart.com
Otis Nice
Was that directed twoards me or Grant? He's a mechanic so either of you. FWIW I wear jeans and a plain tee to work daily. Use to work "white color jerbs" wearing expensive clothing and handling high end accounts daily. I wear old jeans and tee's now and make the same monies. It's nice to be "blue color" but make a good enough living. I dig it.
Jelloman4571647545499
As a guy who has hired for the Automotive Industry for dealerships, manufacturers, corporate and private collision centers I will give you some advice. Don't overthink it. Khakis or dress pants and a nice button up are fine. Heck, if you want to impress, walk in with a suit jacket. Don't forget the simple shit like showering and shaving which is unfortunate I have to mention that these days. I've hired the nicely dressed that failed me and the poorly dressed that amazed me. Good luck and don't nervously talk or get to animated.
acklac7
Again thanks for all the advice everyone. Exactly what I was looking for (and more). In regards to shaving (which has been brought up repeatedly) - I almost never go more than two days without a full-shave. Period. And I always shave with a Razor. #Yuppielife
